Curry Garden Erdington — Restaurant in Birmingham

I've been coming here for a few months now. The food is always tasty and of good temperature and they always work to accommodate my dietary needs. However, both when dining in and taking away, I have used the toilet - the same skid mark has been on the toilet bowl for months, there is never and soap and there is never any toilet roll. The carpets up the stairs also seem to have the same dirt since I started coming here. What they need to realise, is the state of their toilet and overall cleanliness speaks for the cleanliness of their kitchen. It's only because of the taste of the food and convenience I have continued coming here - normally if a place thinks this low level of cleanliness is acceptable I'd walk out and go somewhere else. They also have people going in and out of the kitchen coughing everywhere. Lastly they have a 2* food hygiene rating (online) but have removed the compulsory sign from their windows which...

Fairly typical Indian restaurant. We went late evening and the restaurant was practically empty, although there seemed to be a steady stream of people collecting takeaways. Nobody greeted us to begin with, but once we had entered into conversation with the staff, they were friendly. One of our party asked for one of the menus to be swapped, as it was wet, the replacement didn't arrive. The person serving the food didn't seem overly knowledgeable about what they had brought us - even though it was the same person who took the order - good job we could remember the names of the dishes we'd ordered! Aside from one of us taking a dislike to the ("tasteless") tomatoes, I don't recall any of us having any complaints about the taste of the food and the presentation was fine (once we had enough plates and cutlery between us).

TLDR: Service could be better, but overall a good meal and I'd consider eating...

The 2 stars are purely for the food which was decent. The restaurant on entrance is very tatty and the inside is very, very tatty. Although, I could see signs of painting hence the paint tray/ roller in the corner where we were seated. This place needs a full refurbishment not a touch up especially as the food is quite expensive compared to similar restaurants near by. The Selection of drink s is very poor, there was only stella or coke. I ordered coke and when it arrived it was warm, semi flat and served in a greasy glass. when i asked for ice I was told there wasn't any and consequently was not able to drink it. this experience was made even worse with the blue bottle flies, flying around as we were eating our food.
