I have recently moved to the neighbourhood and had never been to The Charlie Hall before. On 30/07/22 a friend and I visited for the first time. I ordered a double vodka & lemonade with a splash of cranberry juice. The bar tender looked puzzled and replied, "What's that?"...I answered, "You don't know what cranberry juice is?" The young bartender now looked a little embarrassed and explained she knew what it was, she just wasn't sure how she was going to put a splash of cranberry juice through the till? When we sat down with our drinks, I asked my friend if I came across rude to the worker as that was not my intention. My friend explained that it did sound as if she didn't know what cranberry juice was. Throughout the evening when we bought more drinks, it was clear the bartender was not happy with us for some reason. Her face clearly looked annoyed and her manners were no existent. She did not say please or thank you and kept all communication to abrupt one words. We shrugged it off as we didn't intentionally go out to upset the staff member and enjoyed our evening. The following morning we returned for breakfast. When we arrived at the till, the same bartender was there from the night before. I asked if we could have 2 breakfasts please? She smiled and said, "No, because you're 3 minutes late". I replied I understand this, but do you think you could ask the kitchen staff if they would still prepare 2 full-English breakfasts please? The bartender looked over at a kitchen staff member who was taking food out and said, "go ask them yourself". I simply said ok! The kitchen staff was standing next to the coffee machine with had the time on it. I said the time says 11:28am, can we still get to breakfasts please? He pulled his phone out, checked the time and said the time on the coffee machine is wrong so sorry, we are not serving breakfast anymore. I again simply said ok that's fine, do you have any dishes that consist of similar ingredients as a full-English breakfast, like eggs, sausage, bacon, etc. He was kind enough to tell me that the all-day brunch is similar to a breakfast. I said great, thanks for your help and immediately ordered 2 of those for my friend and I. I was very unimpressed with the original bar tender for not providing the customer service I would have liked and at least informed the kitchen staff of my request. She also didn't offer any alternatives like the other member of staff did. When the food arrived it was almost the same as a breakfast, except there wasn't hash browns or toast but chips instead....and of course the price too! While we were eating we saw and heard another couple complain about the service they received by a bartender when making their food order, to the point where they actually left their food and walked out. Now I'm not one who usually eats or drinks at a weatherspoons but it clearly seems that from my experience over the last 2 days, that some if not at least one member of staff needs to be retrained on polite, professional, customer service!!! I have nothing against weatherspoons pubs and will gladly return to any branch, but I would expect the staff to give common curtesy and manners that I would show any other human being on...
Read moreThe staff here are SO lovely - so polite and professional. My only issue is the people that come here - I understand that the area is not fantastic (I live here myself), but after visiting this evening, I realised just how rough it is on certain days. People were shouting about doing c*caine, going to the toilets every two minutes and very obviously under the influence, all while bouncers were in close proximity. We were sat next to a group in particular who were talking about doing ccaine very loudly, and when I got up to move because they were being very obnoxious and loud, they said very loudly 'oh we've scared them off' and started shouting 'ccaine' repeatedly at me - all while there was a bouncer nearby, who did nothing. I have very personal reasons for not wanting to be around that sort of behaviour, and the way it was being allowed to happen was appalling. I left very shortly after, and I don't think I'll be returning for a very long time. It's a shame as I've been here so many times and always enjoyed the food/drinks - but sadly there doesn't seem to be any filter on the door when it comes to who...
Read moreOne of the worst establishments I have ever encluntered. If you can somehow manage to look past its grim dark Alcatraz like exterior, you will realise your forgivingness has repaid with what I would imagine a sharp stump up the arse would feel like. Worse decor inside than the outside this 'pub' is everything that is wrong with modern pub culture. An awful looking interior coupled with an even worse clientele makes for an absolute assult on the senses, not to mention the awful array of 'top quality' craft ales on offer. decide against my better judgement to try the food at this absolute Hole, boy did I regret it. I've eaten some terrible things in my time, human rectums being among them, the chilli con carne was the worst thing I had ever had in my mouth, to this day I have not felt the same level of offence. A disgraceful experience from top to bottom. Also, I do not know what type of people their kitchen employs but if you consider smoking cannabis whilst working your shift 'ok' then that says all you need to know about a...
