MeriGo Kings Heath — Restaurant in Birmingham

I was really disappointed with my visit to Merigo King Heath. The food just didn’t live up to what was advertised.

I ordered a chicken pitta and honestly, it hardly had any chicken in it. After just a few bites I was basically left with dry pitta bread and some lettuce. The chicken that was there was slightly dry, and to make it worse there was no tomato even though the menu picture clearly shows it. The flavour was completely drowned out by too much mayonnaise, so it lacked any real taste.

I also tried the wrap, which was totally wrong. It tasted like salsa not what I asked for and instead of proper chicken strips as shown in the picture, it came with chicken bites. These were chewy and dry, and there was hardly any lettuce inside either.

Service was average. Staff weren’t rude, but there wasn’t much of a welcome, and that makes a big difference. The place itself was clean, which I appreciated, but I did notice some staff in the kitchen without hairnets, which put me off.

Overall, the food was a letdown. It looked nothing like the menu photos, didn’t taste good, and felt sloppy. The only positive was that the restaurant itself was tidy, but sadly that’s not enough for me to...

So I decided to another grilled chicken Merigo. I have to say they will give Pepes a run for there money.

Tender stripes - Looked great tasted even better. l requested extra sauce to elevate the strips.

Half Chicken - Great tasting chicken soft and tender falls of the bone. One again l requested extra sauce.

Spicy rice - not sure if it was spicy for my liking. Tasted great. I used the leftover sauce on the rice. It was tasted really nice.

Great customer service as well. Packaged well. I have to say brand colour is something different looks good.

Update: This time l tried chicken wings and chicken & rice both l had mixed flavours Arabian Delight and Hot.

Wings - nicely flavoured and tasty.

Chicken & Rice - nicely packed compared Pepes. The chicken and rice combination was flavoursome and looked great. Well...

We where recommended this place after going to the Coventry Rd branch.

The guy taking our order was very dull, not very accommodating and talkative at all.

Quite unprofessional behaviour behind the counter too, as the owner was swearing in his own language and shouting at the workers, and all the customer can clearly hear. Big disappointment to say the least. This should have been done behind closed doors and not in-front of customers.

The chicken was quite slimy, and blood was still inside, probably not cleaned properly or steamed and quite tough to consume.
