This place has one of my favourite curry houses in Birmingham for around 10 years now!
The curries have always consistently been delicious with tasty starters and sides always on point. The only dish that has changed in the last few years that I am greatly disappointed about is the shish kebab starter that used to be one of my favourite starters but i'm not a big fan of the red squishy ones of recent times. Other than that this place deserves full marks.
Surprisingly we got a bit disappointed with our order from last night. We normally call in to order for delivery as we know Just Eat take big commission from restaurants and are not good for business but on this occasion we wanted to pay by card so ordered through Just Eat. We asked for extra sauces in the comments and when the driver arrived he asked for an extra £2.50. To our great disappointment we found we had only received two mint sauces that we would normally get with our tandoori starters anyway and only one onion salad which was one less than usual. So for paying £2.50 extra we actually ended up with less mint sauce and onions than we normally have without ordering extra... meaning I had to eat my chicken dry. Food was amazing per usual but the sauce mix up and extra charge was a...
Read moreThe menu looked great lots of options for vegetarians. There were lots of interesting options for meat eaters too. Really a great menu, and not just your standard curry house. On any other night maybe this would have been a great meal out.
We went in a group of 10 and this is where our problems started. There were many other large groups as well. It took over an hour and a half for our starters to come. They got quite a few of these wrong and then rushed out replacements. My starter of vegetable pakora was undercooked. I was pretty hungry by this point so ate it, I hadn't eaten all day as I knew we had a curry booked. The mains then took another hour to come.
When members of the group complained apparently the staff were not very nice about it. They still charged us for popadoms, which felt a bit harsh considering how long we waited.
I have quite a delicate stomach and can often struggle with eating curries out (never have a problem at friends houses or when we attempt traditional curries at home). I was very sick for 3 days after this curry. This may just be that I am getting more sensitive, but if you have this problem too I would avoid this place. I do not always get sick so I am not sure what it is that did...
Read moreWe went there for dinner, and got a mix grill and a curry don't remember which one and a samosa.
To be honest the food is sub standard.
We waited 1 hour for the food, I was hoping that the wait would be worth it however it was not.
The mix grill was almost cold and some of the meat was clearly precooked before the service and reheated, how it can take you 1 hour to reheat food I don't know, it also did not look appetizing please see the photo.
The curry was decent the rice was ok the meat was a chicken thigh, again reheated they probably cook food in advance before the service, and the sauce of the curry was probably fresh to be honest.
The samosa was mediocr, sub standard.
Porely prepared low quality food at a high price.
The drinks were ok a cocktail and a mango lassi both quite good.
The staff was very profesional and respectful, however at the bar it was a person that I think was the owner or manager the poor guys were terrified and were constantly on edge because of that person, it is hard to relax when pople around you are constantly on edge. (they should, treat their...
