JD142328 Disgusting treatment - we'll never return.
We arrived at Akrams for a family meal: my wife, myself and our two year old son. We ordered our food and it came relatively quickly; there were only a couple of minor problems but as Kashmir/Asian cuisine it was lovely. Our son, however, was struggling to chew the chicken tikka and it was a little too spicy for him, so we took the decision to stop feeding him the chicken tikka and give him his back-up option, which was a baby jar. Our plates were cleared and without asking for it, the bill arrived. We thought that was a bit rude as we hadn't finished our meal and were still feeding our son. After eating his baby meal and pudding, our son vomited all over himself and the floor. We were worried about our son and also concerned about the mess by our table, so after tryimh to clean up as best we could, I went to inform the manager. I told him what had happened; he looked at me as if to say, "I can't believe your son has been sick." I went back to the table to help my wife with our crying son and within a few minutes, the manager and one of the waiters came over to clean up. He abruptly asked me to move out of the way and wasn't at all concerned about my son - just the table. I asked where the baby changing facilities were and he told me there were none, so we had to both take him to the ladies' toilet and change his clothes on the sink unit. My wife stayed behind in the toilets to clean up any mess and pack our bag while I took our son back to the table where the pushchair was. By this point, the table and floor were completely cleaned. I turned to the manager and politely apologised for what had happened; he had the cheek to say, "Now I can't use this table tonight and I've got to get the carpets cleaned." I just looked at him in disbelief. I wheeled my son round to the pay desk and waited for my wife to arrive with our bag and my wallet. I asked the other manager if we could pay our bill; we looked at the bill and he had added an extra £20 to the total for 'the clean up' as our son had been sick. We both said that we weren't prepared to pay that charge but of course were going to pay for our food. A family waiting to be seated overheard the conversation and spoke up in disgust about the extra charge we were being told to pay; they were told it wasn't their business and that my fanily and I had 'been here for an hour and a half', as if this was some sort of problem! They then refused to be seated and left. The manager then said to my wife and me: "Listen, I never want to see you in here ever again," and told us we were 'causing a scene', making out that were trouble makers and had done something wrong. My wife was crying at this point due to the stress and embarrassment of the situation, but we stood firm and refused to pay the additional charge. I have never been treated so poorly and the owners are clearly only worried about making money and not looking after their customers. I have known the owners for over 25 years and my own family, extended family and friends all go to Akrams but none of us will be returning ever again after the appalling treatment. Just think: if we can be treated like this after knowing the owners and were loyal customers for over 25 years, how would they treat...
Read moreSo it was pretty busy in the restaurant from I arrived for a meal with around 12 of us. The layout feels very cramped.
We were sat at long line or table more less against the wall kind of. Then another long table behind us. Also full. There were other smaller tables dotted about I just didn’t like the way it was laid out personally. As if just felt cramped to me personally.
The lady’s toilets aren’t the prettiest, there were mirrors above both sinks the one mirror was cracked and chipped at the edge. Not a good look.
I always judge a place by the atmosphere, layout, decor, toilet facilities, food and customer service.
So I ordered something light as I’d already ate and was about to drink alcohol, so I just got a chicken tandoori salad.
The chicken its self was sooo nice. Cooked well and packed full of flavour but this wasn’t what I expected to see on my plate.
A tablespoon full of salad and a chunky thigh of chicken. Thought I had the wrong food for a minute.
I expect to see salad tossed with meat chunks or strips. I told one of the waiters and he just said this is the tandoori salad 🙄
I went on to tell him this is NOT what a person would expect to see (in a polite way of course) when the menu clearly says chicken tandoori salad. He basically disagreed and smiled it off like it was a joke or something. The salad portion was a joke. I give my child more salad than the table spoon full on my plate.
I couldn’t be bothered to disagree with the man about what a basic salad with chicken should look like.
The worst was the end when we’d all finished paying for our food. I could see another group of people had just arrived. We literally just paid for our food. Some people were still finishing their last drink or getting things together to go shortly and we were basically told there are people waiting to have this table and can we basically leave now.
LOL wow I found that soo rude like wtf we all pay and you rush us out. I’ve been to some very very nice restaurants and payed money for my meals and drinks and I’ve been to standard ones like this but never have I been told we need to leave for some other people to sit at our table lol.
I would go back to be honest but as a take away just for the fact the food that I had was nice and I’d eat it again AS A SALAD it should have been. I’d also make a point of asking them to make sure it’s a salad please else that would be my very last time going.
My friends complained about it after we’d all left the restaurant and got some money off the next visit.
A little courtesy wouldn’t go a miss and never rush paying customers. It’s very rude.
Didn’t get a chance to take any pictures as I was confused by what was...
Read morePOOR SERVICE & RUDE.... I was meeting an important customer for dinner and Stirchley was a halfway meeting point, the Akram Kashmiri came up from a Google search with great feedback unfortunately my choose couldn't of been more wrong.... Although booked the table for 5:30pm I was made to stand outside for 15 mins, then once showed to the table was told we only had 50 minutes as they had seriously overbooked which they said was due to the government discount scheme. I offered to pay the full price as it was more important that the dining experience was a memorable one, it certainly was but for all the wrong reasons. Before I even had chance to try the poppadum the waiter asked me to hurry up and order, I explained I was waiting for my friend so we could order at the same time then he started pressuring me to call him and take his order over the phone, shocking… I wasn't prepared to do this, then another waiter came to the table and said if my dining partner didn't arrive in the next 5 mins then I would have to leave. I can honestly say I have never received such an appalling service in all my life and I have travelled the world & been to a lot of restaurants. I decided to go leave at this stage as I knew by the waiters’ attitude that the evening was going to go from bad to worse. I met my customer outside, apologized, and we went to The Bournbrook Restaurant down the road where we had a great evening. Bottom line it doesn't matter how good the food is if the service is terrible it will leave you with a sour taste...
