Another possibly Bangladeshi restaurant, pretending to be Indian, this is not authentic at all.
Recommendation: avoid at any cost, tesco Indian meal deals might taste better.
Food is absolutely horrendous and service was even worse.
Owner response below: Manzil Restaurant (owner) As there are a lot of Indian students coming here they seem to be experts on Asian Indian restaurants however we have been serving for over 50 years.
Response:
None of us were students, thank you for assuming.
The photos speak for themselves, it's a shame that you have been cooking for the last 50 years and still have to use ready made sauce with bright red food colors.
I raised this with someone and I was told this is how we make it, I am really sorry but Uncooked tomatoes, raw peppers topped with pre made sauce with artificial bright red color is not Indian food and you are clearly not taking feedback well.
On top of that we were talking among ourselves while leaving the building, The door was locked at that time and one of our friends made jest in Hindi and all of a sudden your member of staff started to misbehave with us and was very aggressive, despite repeatedly told that we are not...
Read moreThis restaurant was recommended by my b&b place, The Kerryman when I asked where I could get a good curry locally.
I was not disappointed! The owner recommended some dishes according to my taste preferences and included the mixed vegetarian starter, followed by the balti lamb, mushroom bhaji and peshwari nan.
All very flavoursome and aromatic. The mushrooms still had some bite, lamb was melt in the mouth and peshwari nan was very useful for mopping up every last morsel of sauce!
I'd recommend the Mongoose Lager, it's light, refreshing and less gassy than some lagers.
At first I was the lone diner at just after 8pm but service was excellent, I felt valued and enjoyed engagement with the various staff who served me!
Next time I am in Birmingham and want a curry, I know...
Read moreBit of a let down. We were really looking forward to a Birmingham curry. We had the lamb chasni which is described as a sweet n sour dish. It's not. It's very very sweet with no sour! Much too sweet for us. We mentioned this to 3 of the staff as they came around in turn to ask if all was ok. They all replied 'oh yes that is a fruity sweet dish!' We explained that the menu description was sweet n sour not fruity sweet. At first they said 'no no no', then checked the menu and said 'ah, menu is wrong'. Then said 'if you'd have said at the beginning we would have changed it for you'. But as we were more or less finished (chasni mostly un-eaten) they didn't replace it. The fish tikka balti was nice, not much sauce and no chili heat at all despite the 1 chili rating...
