Abuse of power, will ban anyone they simply just don't like with unfair justice and rules

Edit: I was banned from Sleep Apnea as I dealt with Paradoxical Insomnia during my "drunkeness" spouts during the months of September to December 2023. It's a bar, people get drunk, simple. As I was in deep mourning during this time, besides going to this bar for 5 years roughly at this point. I have never once been violent towards anyone or anything, it was simply just passing out. 1 star review is actually based off the terms of my ban - I was put on a 3 month "welfare ban" on the 16th Dec 2023. I even written my original 5 star review almost 7+ months AFTER my ban. After 3 months. I was notified by former staff that my ban had moved to a permanent one around the 14th March 2024. - this did NOT make sense as I hadn't interacted, been to the bar, or spoken about such elsewhere. As I'd used the 3 months to reground myself. As you can see, this was unfair, with no chance to be able to prove one's self of bettering. Throughout 2024, I was notified by former staff, how Subside Head Staff, had a 'private' group chat - in which they were talking badly about me. It seems they were deeply following my online presence, bullying me, talking badly and the main man of the staff, to which I had somewhat of a "relationship" with, had pushed for my ban out of spite, after I had addressed his personal behaviour elsewhere, but I'll update this post with very more depending on how they chose to respond. The permanent ban was ruled extremely unfair by many friends, patrons, current and former staff, that all agreed it did not make sense - especially in regards to the kind of people that have been let back in the bar, that have actually been violent, have done so on the dance floors, taken drugs/been caught with, and even heavily drunken staff, who have had to be put in office to avoid riding their motorcycle home and putting actual people's lives in danger. Besides the reputation, and everybody speaking about the drama that comes with even being associated in the specific community that follows through into here, it is all true.

The edited feedback given by whomever has responded, rather than the original, is a completely false claim other than previously explained above. Claiming I was violent is a sheer deflection to make any person reading the review think otherwise, this is very evident, and also a trait in their other responses to negative reviews. Unless they can send me video evidence of me EVER being violent, this will only be FALSE. As far as drunkeness goes, I can count on one hand how many times I passed out. Having ADHD and forgetting to eat many times, they assumed I'd always be drunk, led to being cut off quite a few even when sober and with eccentric personality that day, which I always responded to with "okay no worries, I'll get a water then please?". The response makes no sense, and is just sheer lying.

Edit: Thank you for the reacts, I will be updating this post with much much more if needed,...

Used to come here quite regularly but last time there were new door staff (admittedly it's been a while since I've been but I don't remember seeing these guys before) one of our group was denied entrance because "his jaw was twitching" which is apparently enough to suspect he's on drugs?

Admittedly he does have a bit of a nervous twitch and I get it if they don't want to take any chances so I can begrudgingly accept this... But when we agreed to leave while waiting for a taxi outside they openly let in two people who smelled so strongly of cannabis you could smell them from up the road, and there was a guy just inside the door who was so drunk he couldn't even stand up. Power mad favouritism and completely unprofessional. Sort your door staff out guys :(

Edit: Your response to this review is frankly laughable! I dont actually know if the individual in our group is autistic or not (he may be) but when you say "no explanation was offered by the party" are you actually suggesting we argue with doorstaff? That never works well in my experience! I know better than to argue with bouncers as it's an argument you never win so we just left (something I figured you would be grateful for?) but again I dont have a problem with that. My problem is with the inconsistencies in standards and obvious favouritism by the doormen, though I now feel obliged to mention that those of our party who had already entered and left immediately without fuss were OF COURSE REFUSED A REFUND ON THEIR ENTRY FEE despite being inside for less than a minute.

We stood outside for quite some time waiting for taxis and the drunk guy in the doorway most certainly did NOT leave and as for the people who stunk of cannabis I must say your cctv must be incredible if it can not only see people smoking all the way up the road but can also see which way the wind is blowing! Truly the Chinese communist party could learn a lot from your incredible methods of surveillance!

You're wrong, you know you're wrong, and this one star review stays. I only regret that I can't...

Would be better if it opened earlier. Some of us don't want to be out late, but a swift pint after shopping would be doable. Used to be a regular here when it was the Barrel Organ, wanted to show the missus the old place. It was shut.

Update: popped in with the missus & a friend who used to be an old Barrel Organ regular a few months ago. It was a Saturday & they charged a fiver entry. To get into a pub. Seriously. Place was practically empty, though it filled up as we got on towards 10pm. To be fair there seems to be a fairly vibrant crowd, once the place gets going, but I do object a bit to being charged to go into an empty pub.

Also, calling me a liar doesn't help your case. I know what I was charged that day, and the day when I came round for a drink at around 4pm with my wife, hoping to show her the place after a long walk around town, you were closed, hence my wishing you were open earlier. I wouldn't wish you were open earlier if when I visited you weren't closed, would I? That makes zero sense whatsoever. Marked down from 3 to 1 stars because honestly, don't try to call people liars. Fix your problems, or live with them, but don't add insult to inconvenience. I won't be back: there are much better...

This place has been around for decades and been here a few times, especially as a stop before moving onto a club. Popular rock music venue. Relaxed, chilled and easy going. They have live rock bands on weekends from time to time. Not a very big venue. A couple of pool tables to the side at only £1 per game, making it popular. No thrills and fair prices at the bar. We just popped into play pool and have a few drinks. Good atmosphere Friday night. Obviously music is not to everyone's taste, unless you like rock. They have a small garden at the back for smokers.

Awesome rock bar, wide range of drinks (particularly beers and spirits) at reasonable prices for Birmingham. Quality music on the speakers whenever there isn't a band on stage. The two pool tables are a great feature, with plenty of space throughout the bar. Visited in the afternoon on Easter Sunday to see Awaiting Ends play live as part of the Zombie Jesus Birthday Bash. Great show!

What a cracking night on Saturday...Dan the DJ was amazing with the tunes 🤘 The drink deals are brilliant, £10 & over for card payments so with the deals you may want to take a bit of cash with you. All the staff, including the door staff are all fantastic & super friendly. It's the perfect safe space for the best night out in Brum 🤘🤘🤘 Thankyou Subside xxx
