Very old listed building. Beware there are no lifts if you are sitting in the balcony there are a lot of stairs to get there so unsuitable for someone with mobility issues. It's a great fitness work out getting to your seats. Seriously so many steps! Seating all though tiered doesn't work that well. I was in 2nd row in balcony see photos before and after people in 1st row took their seats. I think again this is due to the theatres age. Thankfully you don't need to go downstairs to the bathroom it's just up another couple of flights of stairs. However the 1 Toilet didn't flush and the 1 sink didn't work in the bathroom near the balcony in the male toilets. Staff are friendly.

First time at the Old Rep, short walk from New Station Station. Brought tickets at the door for the show - Piaf. First impression, small cosy, old fashion theatre. We sat the far back and we could see and hear the stage clearly. We didn't have anyone sitting in the row infront of us but I can imagine that they would partially obscure the view unlike at the New Rep theatre. Enjoyed the show, singing and dancing from an amateur production about the lifelong of Edith Piaf. No purchase from the confectionery counter.

Brilliant place when I was in primary school paganel I saw Charlie and the chocolate 🍫 factory that was brilliant lovely acted. Went recently to see the wizard of Oz so well acted well worth the money 💰 and get the audience involved as well toilets 🚻 big and clean plenty of disabled accessible links by train 🚆 and bus 🚌 outside staff friendly and helpful 😀

Absolutely disgusted today! A one-off show was advertised “The Enchanted Princess Ball” aimed specifically at young children. Ticket prices were admittedly a little cheaper than usual for the theatre but it was an awful experience! The show was 1-3pm lunchtime, taxi at noon thinking I’d treat myself, daughter, two granddaughters and great granddaughter to a burger, fries etc on arrival, but nothing available except crisps and fruit-shoot drinks. Costumes were good, singing wasn’t brilliant, and despite being dressed as Cinderella, Belle, Elsa etc there, weren’t even any Disney songs. The auditorium was fairly busy, mostly ladies and young girls who would have been there for similar reasons to us, yet an example track was Elton John’s “We’re still standing”, absolutely nothing to do with the supposed theme. We stayed the duration but many started walking out by about 2:30pm. It seems that the show was only put together to fill some seats exploitative of the children being on...

Another trip to the old rep and another great family show (easier to take the gaggle of nieces and nephews than buy Xmas presents they already have or don't need) This year's production of pinocchio is entertaining, colourful, fast paced and full of brilliant characters and acting. Hard to single any out but pinocchio, gippetto, the black Country blue fairy and the ringmaster all deserve a mention... as do the cat and the Fox. Together with a massively talented ensemble of singers and dancers the kids were thoroughly entertained from 3-9 years old. Fair do's so was I at 52! As ever the theatre is compact, friendly and inviting. Can't give any negatives because there weren't any! A brilliant afternoon in a marvellous theatre (and won't...

I had never been to the Old Rep theatre in all my 65 years living in Birmingham and it was a different experience. I went in the front door and the member of staff sent me round the back to access the stalls and the bar and I had to walk down the dark and dingy and in my opinion decidedly dangerous (it has a strip club on the corner) Hinckley Street to get into the theatre. Not a nice experience. Once I was in the theatre it was fine but the stage isn't that big and it isn't that big a theatre with stalls and a balcony. The show an "Evening with Martin O'Neill" to promote his new autobiography was excellent as was the interviewer a young journalist. After initial reticence the evening...
