Today I went and had a meal at Merry Maids. As soon as we received the food, a lady (who did not appear under the influence of drugs or alcohol) next to us was trying to steal it. Yep, you are reading that right, straight away too. I agreed at first for her to have some. Strangely she never took any.

She carried on hounding us, so we physically moved the table from her. I stated 'you are making us feel uncomfortable' and my friend stated 'we need our space'. Oh do not worry that made no odds, she just carried on pounding us.

Then another issue arose, our table was now interfering with the pool table. So we moved it back slightly. Again she tried stealing our food. So I gave her a naan bread with some chicken and lamb. The female owner signalled to me not to share my food with her. Which was bizarre as she did not stop her and blamed me.

We never ate all the food, and decided to take it home and eat it at a later time. As we got up she demanded we give her the food, and physically forced the plate down on the table. It caused a massive scene.

I then approached the owner and asked her to place the remaining food in a takeaway bag. I declared I would never return, (I never will either).

I went to the restroom, and my friend felt that uncomfortable he waited in the corridor for me.

On my return from the restroom the owner offered us more food, which we refused. It was a task in itself getting the food bags from her. In hindsight I should have left them too. As the standard of food was really, really, really, poor. (On arrival at home it was disposed of). Also the pub is filthy, disgusting actually.

You know what was comical in this entire affair, the lady who was trying to steal our food (who succeeded) was with two other men, who did not stop her, and the owners did nothing!

You should be ashamed of yourselves. This is what modern twenty-first century England looks like. Also an indictment to the English education system. Absolutely pathetic, get your act together.

Yeah I think you know not to go to this unhygienic dump, as the Maids are...

Best overall food in the Midlands, this means starters and main course are both great and very affordable.

I usually order a mixed grill, fish pakorhe and their signature dish in my eyes the chilli chicken (If you can handle your spice). Main course I usually have a chicken or fish curry and most types of curries are very tasty bhuna, jalfezi etc.. Keema is also great. The wraps are in naan which are also tasty and Biryani's are delicious but can be too spicy but they can reduce the heat on request.

It isn't your fine dining restaurant but you can't go wrong with the Merrymaid on an overall scale. Book your tables in advance on Friday and Saturday evenings as you may be disappointed.

I believe they are looking to give the place a lick of paint which is needed. Pool is competitive during peak hours so if you're any good put your name on the board and bring your cue. You can put some English or Bhangra songs on their juke box as well.

Two seperate rooms, one more traditional pub style usually with the locals and 1 pool table also a rear room which is more of a restaurant style with a bar on both sides, at the end of this room and new extension area has 2 pool tables.

Family owned business and Staff are vrr friendly and make you feel at home. Always recommend this place if you want a good local pub with great food and everything at more then...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Merrymaid Bar and Grill in Birmingham, and it was well worth the trip from Leicester! Everything from the food to the service was absolutely spot on, making it a dining experience to remember.

The Fish Pakora was a standout – perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. The balance of spices was just right, offering a burst of flavor in every bite. The Chicken Jalfrezi was another highlight, with succulent pieces of chicken cooked to perfection in a rich, spicy sauce that had just the right amount of heat. The freshness of the ingredients really shone through, and it was clear that a lot of care had gone into the preparation of the dishes.

The service was exceptional as well. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure that every aspect of our meal was enjoyable. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, perfect for a relaxed evening out.

Overall, Merrymaid Bar and Grill exceeded my expectations in every way. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone, and I can confidently say it’s worth the travel – even from Leicester! Hats off to the waiting staff who were great and friendly as well as the bar and kitchen staff who were...

Good food, reasonable prices, good atmosphere, can't fault it. Tried this place for the first time yesterday. From the outside it looks like a typical British pub but similar to The Vine when you venture into the back there's a dining and pool area (heads up on this the door from the main bar is simply labeled "toilets", the corridor takes you to the toilets AND the back area which can be confusing if you don't know where you're going). The food is typical Asian grill with sizzler options to start and curries for mains. I went with a large mixed grill which contained the usual mountain of meat. Mains were a lamb balti and a couple of naans. The sizzlers were excellent, great marinade on the meat and unlike other places came accompanied by a giant bottle of chili sauce and mint yoghurt so we never ran out. Curry was good too with plenty of meat. Drinks weren't badly priced either (£3/pint). Two families went, mine ate more and we only clocked up £10/head, the other family only spent £4/head. Overall for the price, quality, location (and the fact that there's plenty of on street parking) it's gotta get the full 5 stars. Highly recommended.

Seen so many people raving about this place, I've been meaning to visit for a while. Finally got round to it. Firstly you see a lot of reviews talking about the interior, but I actually don't mind it. It brings back memories of how these places used to be before they took off. You definitely won't see young ladies dressing up and posing against botanical feature walls for Instagram in here. The beer selection is very basic, no craft ales, but again, that adds to the nostalgic feel of the old time Desi Pubs. The Mixi is what I was here for, and it lived up to the hype. The only thing that was a bit iffy was the masala chips, but who honestly really cares about those? The lamb chops on the grill were the best I've ever had anywhere. The curry was flavoursome and looked natural unlike everywhere else that throws in red colouring. Portions were big and prices were very reasonable. Service was great. Didn't even have to ask for a menu, was handed two immediately as I bought drinks at the bar. I would definitely be a regular if I lived closer, and I look forward to another visit soon...

Warm, friendly atmosphere with good honest food. The starters were excellent, a lovely Rita, crisp poppadoms and a nice chutney and pickle. The fish pakoras were delicious, crispy and a perfect amount of spice to them. The mixed Grill was excellent, I didn't expect anything else, as I'd heard lots of good things. Succulent range of meats all spiced deliciously. The curries were also excellent, with the chef allowing us to adapt one of the curries which was great. The naan's were also very tasty. Our experience here was excellent and I will definitely be returning.
