I would give zero stars if possible The food is not nice but that is nothing compared to the (I'm guessing) the owner.. I'm guessing that because no one would ever employ this person to interact with paying customers. As we ate our food ( which was different to what we ordered) all you could hear is this person shouting orders at the other staff and constantly chatting with customers like it is his only role. One of the guys who served us was super nice and very good at his job but sadly the other waiters weren't great (for example, taking some plates but literally standing there waiting for my girlfriend to finish her rice, she eventually left but took all the knifes and forks with her)
We ordered Chicken and it was either over cooked or had been cooked and reheated and the prices are terrible! Average of 9 pounds for a starter??
The best part of the meal was the fortune cookie and chocolate they gave you at the end of the meal! I felt sick after eating the food and we didn't eat much (thank God)
Don't waste your money in this place and it's a real shame as it's been advertised as coming soon since...
Read moreOur usual Chinese restaurant was closed, so we decided to try something new. Since The Kangxi Imperial had great reviews and was nearby, we gave it a go for delivery. If I could go back in time and stop myself from ordering, I absolutely would.
I ordered the king prawn fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. While the chicken was quite good, the rice was essentially just boiled rice with food colouring and two king prawns—hardly what I expected. Another item in our order was crispy fried chicken, which, despite no mention of sauce on the menu, came with sweet and sour sauce and was anything but crispy. The logic behind that choice was lost on me.
Then there’s the price—we paid a shockingly high amount, about £40 more than our usual spot. Given the rave reviews, we assumed it would be worth it. Spoiler alert: it was not. The food was mediocre at best, and the pricing felt extortionate for the quality we received.
Maybe they were just having a bad night, but if my usual place is ever closed again, I’ll simply...
Read morewas genuinely shocked by how we were treated here. We were given buffet menus at the table, but my partner is vegan and the options were extremely limited for her. I still wanted to have the buffet, but the owner told me—quite bluntly—that I would have to sit separately, on my own, if I wanted it.
Frankly, I found this not only rude but insulting. You cannot speak to people of a high calibre in that manner and expect it to be acceptable. We came to dine together, not be separated like schoolchildren. It felt like the owner was insinuating I might share my buffet with my partner — which I found offensive, especially considering she’s vegan and wouldn’t have touched any of it regardless.
The way it was handled lacked all tact, professionalism, and basic hospitality. We left feeling deeply uncomfortable and unwelcome. I would not recommend this place, especially to anyone expecting decent treatment or respect for...
