Pepe's — Restaurant in Birmingham

My review may seem weird when reading it. I'll be giving out positive and negative reviews today in my message.

Load fries with paneer, jalapeno, salsa, cheese

Positive review:-

Food was warm and I could actually see the cheese had melted this time. I felt the jalapenos were too much for me.

Negative:-

Hygiene in the shop by adults themselves. We should all be looking after everyone.

If a person is coughing, yes I agree the person put their hand Infront of their mouth, however the person didn't go and wash their hands but carried on touching the till, food, touching money, till, other stuff was disgusting to see and go through. I understand sometimes a person can't help it but use a tissue and cough into it and then go wash your hands.

The worse thing is the hand sanitizer was right their in front of the person on the worktop.

As we were eating there were two young boys one was vaping and the smell of the vape went into the air and everyone's food. Vaping is as bad as smoking and they were not stopped.

I understand the workers are very busy behind the counter cooking and serving customers however I think they should also be keeping a look out by the seating area.

I used to be a regular at this pepes as I live nearby, the food used to be good and service great. Then the staff started chopping and changing and quality went down the pan hence I've rarely been here over the past 6 months. I thought I would give it another try as it's been such a long time and maybe they have managed to get it back on track but how wrong was I... I ordered chicken and rice with hot flavouring, to say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

The chicken is totally dry, devoid of any flavour or spice. It's totally dry and chewy in a bad way. Seem like really strange cuts as theres random sized pieces, I would hazard a guess that it's a mixed batch of meat quality wise.. cheaper cuts blended in.

The rice has no favour at all, usually you can still get a hint of masala flavouring but again its devoid of it. I'm just glad I didnt order a lot of food as it was a major disappointment.

The management needs to work on quality issues and staff. There was a major lack of enthusiasm and it seems like the staff are stuck in a routine of being robots. Management should work with them to rejuvenate and refresh them whilst motivating them.

Placed an order for iftar yesterday and was really looking forward to breaking my fast with some delicious food, I do order regularly but never been so disappointed with the food quality, the chicken was so dry and hard, looked like they had served us chicken from last night, I refuse to believe the chickens were fresh at all, chips were soggy, the pepe delivery driver looked like he was sick of he’s job. I don’t know if Ramadan has gotten to the staff because there was no effort made making the food, bunch of amateurs, if the staff are fasting and Cba doing their job then they should have just closed for this holy month instead of serving us the paying customers disgraceful food. £25.99 including delivery charges on a family platter gone straight to the bin, no consideration to the people who are fasting and haven’t ate all day just looking forward to breaking their fast!!!
