I recently visited Slam Burger in Birmingham while traveling and had a very disappointing experience. Since I’m not from the area, I didn’t immediately notice the halal sign outside, so I asked the staff if the food was halal. Instead of a simple confirmation, the person behind the counter responded sarcastically, saying, "What do you think? Can’t you tell by looking at me?"
As a Muslim, I believe it’s my responsibility to verify that the food I eat is halal, and appearances alone don’t confirm that. After this awkward exchange, another staff member took my order. I specifically requested no cheese, only lettuce, and no sauce on my burger. I also ordered wings, asking for the mild ones as I can’t handle spice.
When I collected my food and left, I didn’t check it immediately. About 10 minutes into my drive, I opened my order, only to find that my burger was covered in cheese and sauce, and the wings were the spiciest ones on their menu—completely opposite to what I had requested. Given the poor attitude I experienced earlier, it felt like this was done deliberately, which made it even more disappointing. I couldn't return back to the venue as i was running late and had a 3 hours journey ahead of me.
I paid over £16 for my meal and could only eat the fries and drink. The customer service was terrible, and the staff’s attitude was unacceptable. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I certainly won’t...
Read moreA very busy but calm Friday night (12am). The establishment is very clean, spacious and inviting. The interior decor, design of the store, seating and general graphics of the menu and displays is 10/10. The Slamburger store now occupies two units; the other side is full of seating and a restroom in the corner. The seating was very comfortable and there was a section for kids for smaller with games on tablets. A very family friendly place. We quizzed the server quite a bit on the menu and they were very honest and upfront. We ordered the Big Slam (Peri Chicken) as a meal with drink. The fries were piping hot and fresh - high quality. The chicken was tasty, the salad exceptional and the buns very soft. No corners were cut in of the ingredients that made up the burger. I will revisit again, as the menu seems to be more jam packed and appealing than my local Alum Rock Road branch. I've downgraded by 1 ⭐ as there is nothing remotely spicy available on the menu. The spicy fillet chicken is not that spicy and as per my conversation with the server, there isn't anything remotely spicy but they do provide hot dips. If you're going to serve a vastly populous South Asian community, you need to have spicy food (*adding sauce,...
Read moreI visited this establishment with colleagues from work as a means of a social activity. Upon arrival I was given a lackadaisical, casual but acceptance level of hospitality from the cashier. Upon review of the highly varied menu, I ordered a "360" burger meal - a burger containing 2 175g beef patties, Algerian sauce, turkey rashers and lettuce sandwiched with two powdered buns. This was accompanied by a side of fries and a tango cherry.
The buns were disappointing in the sense that they did not feel they were of a good quality. Although soft to the touch, they did not offer much by way of taste contribution. The beef patties were of a medium to high quality and were well cooked despite being simple in terms of salts/spices. The saviour of the burger was truly the Algerian sauce which heightened the experience of the burger significantly. As a Muslim, I understand this sauce to be a blessing from the lord above. In conjunction with the lightly salted fries and a tango cherry can, I highly enjoyed my meal overall.
As a final thought, my experience was made more valuable by enjoying it with good hearted folk around me. I recommend this establishment for a...
