Stack Shack - Ladypool Road — Restaurant in Birmingham

I actually don’t know where to begin! I’m pretty sure that this place can and maybe once was a really good place but i had the absolute worst experience ever.

Food - Our burgers were good. The mac and cheese was disgusting! It could have easily been off or maybe under cooked? Over cooked cheese with under cooked pasta. I have no idea. Whatever it was it was disgusting. By the end of the meal i was so annoyed I completely forgot to get a refund for the mac and cheese that made everyone gag.

Service - THE WORST Firstly we got served by a new staff member. So she was slow which is understandable but when we asked about the food she has no idea. I smiled and asked if it was her first day but she said she had been working for a month. Surely should know the food or even the drink selection by now? But still i gave her plenty of time to figure out things at the tills. After taking my sisters order i said i will be ordering. The lady walked away again i just took it as her being nervous and not hearing me. She definitely needs more training. When our order came through. order was wrong.. the buns were wrong again we said it was fine we just wanted to eat. They forgot my toddlers fries they gave us fries after a while. We asked for drinks 3/4 times before we got the drinks. The lady realised how many times we asked so gave us an extra can drink. After taking a sip of my soft drink i realised there was ice in it.. I specifically asked 3 times no ice please. So they gave me another one with no ice. I hate wasting food but the other drink went to waste. Again we had to call them because we had no sauces again this was something we asked for 3 times. The lady then told us no sauces are given just 1 specific sauce with the burgers i told her we ordered so many meals not everyone has sauces she then apologised and gave the sauces that come with the meal. While ordering the lady asked if we want the mac and cheese on side of the burger but she failed to explain that on the side means it cost £2 more. The baby seat was disgusting with dried food bits. The lady wiped it quickly without removing any dirt off it. I found a spray and cleaned it down myself.

Toilet- The worst thing in the winter is cold water in the toilets. Especially if you’ve providing a jug to wash .. its freezing cold water. Oh yes the tap fell onto my hand while i was washing my hands. I used the disabled toilets as i had to change my babys nappy.

Freezing The restaurant was freezing cold! Absolutely cold. We couldn’t remove our jackets.

Its really sad that staff can ruin a restaurants reputation. Because i bet theres a wonderful owner who actually cares about his restaurant but the staff had really put it down.

Really good. We ordered a Philly Cheese Steak and the regular smash burger they have, both as a meal one with crinkle fries and one with waffle fries.

The cheese steak isn't really a cheese steak but I'm guessing it's marketed that way so it looks more tempting for customers to know what it is, you'd expect thin slices of beef with onions and peppers but instead it's slow cooked beef that's like shredded which in my opinion is more "luxery" than the standard but one thing I'd say is that it was amazing usually when you get these braised beef items they always have a BBQ sauce flavour and it's not really the best but these guys have really done well with it. The roll is a St Pierre brioche sub which has a nice flavour but I think it would be better with a more classic sub roll with a bit more give. One thing I would say is that the food is quite salty across the board hence the 4 star.

The smash burger is what I like two thin patties that had a decent flavour but the sauce they have was quite weird and very tangy don't know if it complements it the best so we would probably stay away from the smash Burgers from this place as there is a lot of competition and other places are better for us.

The crinkle and waffle fries were both cold but it was delivered so I can't blame the restaurant but the waffle fries were much better and had more flavour. The portions are tiny though, please get rid of the McDonald's style packaging for fries as you barely get any and I wouldn't say this place is cheap but they had offers on and it came out reasonable but in the future when there is no discounts I can't say the portion is...

First time here. Came here for iftari (Ramadan) with my 5 nieces/nephews and the sis in law.

From the moment we walked in, the experience was more like a restaurant than a what I’m used to at burger joints.

The staff were so attentive and lovely, and making an effort to interact with the children.

As we were fasting, they brought the drinks out earlier just in case food wasn’t ready on time. However, the food came out just at iftari time which was perfect.

The food tasted just as good as it looked. The portion sizes were a lot bigger than I’ve had at equivalent places. Even the kids meals were really big, as big as adult meals.

Due to the payment machine playing up a little I was given a discount for the additional time it took to accept my payment.

Whilst eating, staff came around to ask us if we needed anything else and if the food was ok. I thoroughly enjoyed telling them that the food wasn’t good, it was FAB!

Just as we were about to leave the owner told each of the 5 kids they could have a free gourmet milkshake of their choice which they were obviously ecstatic at !!

I then ordered a coffee whilst the kids were enjoying their milkshakes and he gave that on the house too as a Ramadan gift to me.

And not to forget the place …. It is immaculate ! So clean and warm.

I wouldn’t just go here again because I was given items on the house, but because the food is worth going back for. The cleanliness of the place is 10/10 too.

I honestly hope you guys go from strength to strength !!
