Wow, what can I say. It was the first time we went out for a Tawa and it was special. There were 4 adults and 4 children under the age of 5. We ordered the regular tawa as we weren't sure of the quality of the item and if it will fill us up. The owner/manager was friendly and accommodating. We travelled for 2.5 hours and it was well worth it folks. All the items where freshly cooked. We requested the chicken balti to be changed to chicken pathia which the team gracefully changed. As extras we ordered lamb biryani as it had an offer of "buy one and get the second half price" so we got two of those plus 2 extra keema naans. The keema naan was one of the best that we had in recent years plenty of mince meat inside it and the biryani had good amount of lamb as well. The only downside for me was not communicating with the team enough as we may be abled to change the plain naan with tawa as keema naan and change the tawa rice to some other rice's. We ended the meal with Kashmiri Chai and desi chai and oh my God what a finish that was. Well presented and also very delicious.
My reasons for 4 star and not 5 star are: ATMOSPHERE; the place has a huge potential but it's small and we were dreading if we will get a table and we were lucky. FOOD: The tawa rice was pretty standard and would like to see more cans being offered as part of fhe tawa deal. SERVICES: They all are newish and have loads to learn. I come from a catering background and understand what they go through. I believe we as customer also have a duty to be kind and respectful towards them as much as they to make it a great occasion.
Finally, since I was there, I acknowledged 10 seperate tables and they all had Tawas. Rest is for you...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but this experience was too poor not to share. From the moment the food arrived, it was clear this restaurant is cutting serious corners. What was advertised as “masala fish” turned out to be a bland, cheap piece of haddock with minimal seasoning, wrapped in naan with barely a garnish—just a few onion slices and a sad attempt at salad. It was far from the flavorful, vibrant dish I expected.
Things only got worse. The onion bhaji was rubbery, starchy, and completely lacking in flavor. The main course, chicken bhuna, was a disaster—overcooked chicken mixed with mushy tomatoes and onions, swimming in oil. It was difficult to eat and left me feeling quite unwell.
The salad that accompanied the meal was laughable: mostly lettuce, one lonely slice of tomato, and a few strips of raw onion. Very poor effort.
We also ordered chicken biryani, but after the starters and mains, I couldn’t bring myself to try it. The entire meal was so underwhelming, and the poor quality of food along with the portion sizes certainly didn’t justify the price.
To make matters worse, the service left much to be desired. We requested several items from their so-called “updated” menu—mince pasta, gajar halwa, strawberry and bubblegum ice cream, and pink tea—only to be told none of them were available. Frankly, I’m glad they weren’t, given the quality of what we did receive.
This place feels like a joke—misleading menus, substandard food, and a lack of basic culinary care. It’s disheartening to see customers being taken advantage of like this. Safe to say, I won’t...
Read moreThis evenings cuisine was a local eatery in birmingham, though its only been open according to the owners for 8 weeks. It seems to have built quite the local following especially with whispers about the chapel kebab night being something quite spectacular being of the Asian persuasion and someone who really specialises in kebab life I made it my mission this evening to sample the Chapal kebab.
Chapal Kebab or Kabab is a Pashtun-style minced kebab, usually made from ground beef, mutton or chicken with various spices in the shape of a patty. The Chapli Kabab originally comes from the northern areas of Pakistan, in particular Peshawer, capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Upon entry the retaurant was light and airy staff were waiting to take ur order. They kindly supported our decision to go for the kebab. We decide to supplement this with a lamb Sheesh roll, some meat samosas and accompanied by the rather succulent chicken pakoras.
The prices were reasonable and the portions offered really good value for money a single kebab with naan and salad was enough to fill the average person although people who go to the gym and those that are ful time foodys would probably be better off with two kebabs. The samosas athough small were incredibly tasty.
Ive yet to try the biryani and the Tandoori mix grills im saving that for visit number 2. Keep up the good work spice lounge...
