I took my mother & a friend for breakfast, the staff, a larger white lady had an attitude, and an Asian man with tattoos. The attitudes of a couple of the staff, the lady just walked around looking fed up & snapped when a customer asked for toast. There ended up being about 4-5 people waiting for toast & she brought about 3 pieces of just white, that wasn't really toasted & we'd been waiting for around 10 minutes. I continued to wait with 3-4 other people for toast, who also wasn't happy with the service, then she comes back again 5-6 mins later with another 3 pieces of white toast, a couple of us wanted brown toast & none of us wanted lightly toasted bread that just seemed like stail bread not actually toast. We also had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for tomatos, my mum 60+ was told by the Asian guy "tomatos have to be at the right temperature darling" with an attitude, she'd be waiting maybe 10 minutes for tomatos to be heated up that she left as her breakfast was getting cold. He called my 60+ mother "darling" I really wasn't happy about this, I found it offensive, so rude & disrespectful. I was then told they would bring some tomatoes & toast to our table after waiting for well over 10 minutes, still no toast or tomatoes & now a cold breakfast. Once the tomatoes finally arrived at our table, even though we'd nearly finished our breakfast now, they were cold, & after the comment with attitude that was just given to my mother. Last but not least, you don't get any drink included with breakfast, this is an extra cost, I think a drink should be included. Overall I wouldn't recommend Grove, go to Gynsills instead, drinks included, tea, coffee, juices, make yourself toast, they have a good selection. Cereals, fruits, cooked breakfast & continental breakfast. We definitely wouldn't be going back to Grove Farm & I will be steering people away. We will be sticking with Gynsills who are much,...
Read moreThere were no mushrooms for breakfast. Was told an order had been received but they wouldn’t get them out in time for breakfast. It was 9:15.
I requested vegetarian sausages which I had to chase up after 30mins and an extremely unhappy waitress said she was just bringing them out.
I then asked the same unhappy, inhospitable waitress if there was more eggs coming as the vegetarian options were limited. She said she would ask the kitchen but it would take time. I then said it was unacceptable to wait for sausages and then wait for eggs and asked who was overseeing the buffet. No answer.
The toast had sat out on a large plate and that was cold. No thought had gone into the ratios nor was there a chef checking on what was needed.
The waitress returned before I left the buffet to say she had a few eggs. She then scooped an egg onto the persons plate into front of me, touching her bacon and sausage. I asked if I could get the eggs myself as her spatula was now contaminated with meat and as a vegetarian, I expect none of my food to come in contact with meat. She rolled her eyes, said “do whatever”, I asked what her problem was and if she was working with food this should be a very obvious request and then she just rolled her eyes again and used that same spatula to place them onto the buffet. When asking why she did that and why I couldn’t get the eggs myself she said “I’ll get you some more shall I”. No eggs came out and no apology. I ate my beans, cold toast and vegetarian sausages.
That person should not be working in hospitality let alone with food.
I will not...
Read moreSo we booked a table for half 2 today, this booking also had booking notes to ask to accommodate my mum who's in a wide wheelchair. As we arrived, the women at the welcome stand saw we were trying to get through the doors and didn't offer any help to open the other door for us to get through (bare in mind it was me pushing my mum in the wheelchair and my sister who was holding the other door behind us). She then didn't welcome us with a smile or a simple hello, just a very rude "just find a table". We had booked and a table should have been reserved but not even a chance to explain this to her as she just repeated herself again being rude. So we didn't feel welcome to start with. My next problem was that there's very little room to move about and we had to move our own chairs to make space for my mums wheelchair. Next problem was my mum found hair and egg shell in her food which put her off finishing her dinner. Then when our plates were finally cleared after a long time of waiting, there's was no I hope everything was okay and reserved signs were placed on thetable while we were still sat, even though they said it wasnt for another hour which again comes off as quite rude, wait til we have gone. Lastly, I think the only time we were asked about allergies was at the end of our stay when we ordered a to go desert and paid off the tab. You guys are so lucky you have decent carveries because that's the only reason why I come because the service is awful besides the last women with braids who actually served us with a smile and did her job...
