Wong's Chinese is located in Crockwell Street in the centre of Bodmin. Parking is possible outside but I guess not really recommended. Looks a little run down from the outside, but don't let that put you off. Food always freshly cooked to order and tastes really good. Waiting times normally around 15 minutes. They also do delivery in Bodmin for a charge of £1.50. Due to the demand of deliveries they wait can be sometimes longer if ordering on arrival. Friendly staff. Worth trying. The lemon chicken is amazing 👍
Been going to Wong's regularly since this review. Wanted to update it. As I mentioned in my first review the food tastes good. Their sweet and sour pork, lemon chicken and pancake rolls are brilliant. Only gripe is they have a habit of putting onion and carrot in everything so make sure you ask for this to be left out. Also it really could do with a proper clean inside. They have had dead flies in the windows for age's. Doesn't look good. Still one of the better Chinese takeaways in town 👍
It's long overdue that I updated my review as it's changed for the worse since then. After bringing home a takeaway last night on the 26/07/24 it was the final nail in the coffin for me. Never going back. Egg fried rice was ok, but not great. The pork meat in the pork balls was mostly fatty, mushy and very unpleasant to eat. Batter was fairly crispy. Pancake roll started off crispy then finished soft and mushy. Never had a Chinese that was covered in so much grease and oil. The sweet and sour sauce was so acrid you couldn't eat it. To top it all then went to eat the fortune cookies to find they were stale. Unbelievable!! It's not the cheapest Chinese in town Definitely not the best. I was planning on my usual Chinese but they were unfortunately closed. So reluctantly went to Wong's. Most of it went straight in the bin, and I'm definitely not going back. Sorry Wong's but not for...

The food is cooked fresh to order and is really tasty. The special curry is great and not too spicy, chowmein's were really good. The mushrooms we ordered were amazing. And the crispy chilli beef was also great though a little too hot for me! My wife had the chicken satay and again this too was really good.
I'm not used to this I write damning reviews, but credit where it's due this meal was really really good!
We went to a different establishment around the corner from 'Wong's' at the start of our holiday and the food was nowhere near as good. The food was cheaper at 'Wong's' and far superior!
The only criticism came from my son who said that the Bbq sauce wasn't the best he'd ever had, but in my opinion it was perfectly acceptable!
Stop wasting your time looking for a good Chinese in Bodmin you've...
Read moreWe visit Wongs at least once or twice a month and I have enthusiastically given Wongs 5 star reviews in the past.
Sadly we have found the quality of food from has been far lower over the last two or three months now. Some dishes have still been nice but others either burnt, very greasy or just not a very pleasant taste. In addition to this I usually phone and order ahead because parking can be a little awkward, as the food is sometimes done before I arrive I always ask that food is popped into one of their insulated bags if it’s ready before I get there, they always promise to do this but to date have never actually done it, supposedly it’s always “just come out of the kitchen” but is often less than warm by the time we get home. They have also increased the minimum spend for free prawn crackers to £35.
We will be trying somewhere...
