A completely disappointing experience – I do not recommend! This was our first time trying a Portuguese restaurant, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a poor choice. From the start, the service was subpar. The food was not brought out at the same time, the order was incorrect, and we even received an extra dish we hadn’t asked for. We didn’t complain at the time, as we were open to trying new things, but the experience only went downhill from there. After finishing each course, the dirty plates remained on our already small table, and the server made no effort to clear them, making the whole dining experience uncomfortable and cramped. Now, about the food… It was overly greasy, which made it unpleasant, and some components were excessively salty. We ordered a beef dish, but the meat tasted and looked off, as if it wasn’t fresh. It was stringy and completely inedible. I’ve never encountered beef this poorly prepared in any restaurant. We took one bite and couldn’t eat the rest. If you can’t deliver a quality product, it shouldn’t be on the menu. To make matters worse, the floor was quite dirty, and there’s no proper ventilation near the kitchen. When we left, all our clothes smelled strongly of food. Overall, a disappointing experience from start to finish. If you’re going here just because of the positive Google reviews, you’ll likely regret it. Not...
Read moreFound this cafe down a steep alleyway. It was very steep for the wheelchair and would have been better to park near the bottom. Very noisy when we arrived due to several Portugese customers who were clearly "one over the eight'. The host however was very pleasant and she have us a table inside. Sadly it was noisier despite her asking her customers to quieten down, to no avail. We came for the highly rated food however, not the atmosphere, the wheelchair manouvered ok in the cafe. We were given a table by the window. The only diet drink was diet coke, not my favourite, my wife had a coke. Both were cold. We then had garlic king prawns, I then had the steak with crisped potatoes. My wife had the espetada terra e mar with chips and salad with a nice dressing. I had a very tasty sauce served with my steak. We both cleared our plates and we agreed it was the best meal we had whilst in Cornwall. We took away a nata custard tart for supper. Thoroughly recommended....
Read moreWe decided to try this place after seeing it on Facebook, the food on there looked lovely. We eventually found it tucked away behind the High Street. The menu when we went we found limited. I had a chicken burger and was disappointed to find it was a cheap frozen burger in the bun. I would have expected it to have been a proper chicken beast burger for that establishment. There wasn't anything else on the menu that I wanted to eat. My husband had a squid skewer, which he enjoyed, he also enjoyed the wine. The service was very good, with friendly staff. Sadly, we didn't like the atmosphere in the cafe/restaurant, the other diners were all Portuguese, and were speaking in Portuguese. We were being stared at constantly from said diners, which made us very uncomfortable, this is a real shame as they are trying to attract...
