Customer experience: I was told to wait before a table could be made ready for our group of 3. This is despite there only being 1 other group of diners in the place at the time. When we were shown to our table, we were given sticky menus. The velvet upholstery on the seats was smeared in several places by food and there were crumbs and left over bits of food on the seats. The server had left us before we could even sit down.
Another young female server had to be called over to take our order even though we'd been seated for over 10 minutes. We were told that the fries would not be accompanied by condiments and that it was 50p per serving of ketchup. The mochas were lukewarm when they arrived and there was hardly enough ketchup for the fries. The fries were tasty, however, there were several green ones as well as ones with black bits in them. For a high-end eatery, this was unexpected and smacks of profit over quality.
When I asked the server for tap water, I was told that I would have to purchase bottled water. What kind of food establishment can't even deign to provide a simple request for water without wanting to make money from it? I was disgusted that I had to pay for a condiment to go with my fries and despite having purchased drinks already to be denied tap water was quite frankly ridiculous.
Hygiene The way to the toilet was blocked by crates and boxes. The door of the handle was greasy and smeared, as were the taps on the sink.
The toilet itself was one of the worst I've seen. There didn't seem to be a ladies toilet, so I used the disabled toilet. Scrunched up dirty tissues lined the sink and littered the floor. The baby changing shelf was grimy and dirty and left down. The toilet seat was up with the rim of the toilet covered in dubious stains. The floor was wet. I did not avail myself of the facilities and had I seen the state of the toilets before ordering, I would not have ordered.
Because of our experience, we did not order more food or drinks and decided to go elsewhere.
I will not be attending the branch in Bolton again and would definitely not recommend that others do.

Read moreHad one of the most unpleasant experiences at what is supposedly a "luxury dessert place." There was a crawling insect or bug on the dessert. We were ignored for quite a while with no initial apology with an intimidating response from one of the employees in charge who may have been one of the managers. When we asked if it would be compensated; the response was very rude as though as we had conducted the whole thing. The manager responded to my uncle saying "oh, you want everything on the house don't you". This is appalling and I am pretty certain that if we were white customers, this type of behaviour wouldn't be used. Her service was very aggressive and intimidating. This is appalling behaviour and customer service during a pandemic where hygiene is priority. We were acknowledged by the receptionist who wasn't even aware of the situation after being ignored completely from every staff member. Please train your staff members on hygiene and how to speak to customers especially the managers in charge on the evening yesterday. We understand accidents happen but the customer experience was horrible and definitely didn't make up for the fact that there was a bug crawling on the dessert in the first place from what seemed like the fruits on the dessert not being washed with very poor quality basic ingredients.
