Disappointed - and it’s rare for me to be so harsh on a business. I went in on 7th November 2023 at 12:50pm. Ordered a Traditional Breakfast and a Jacket Potato with Cheese & Beans and two coffees. The first thing of note is the mug of coffee is made with cheap instant coffee and milk powder from a machine. The young lady had made a small error in not refilling the milk powder, causing the machine to shut down. The older lady serving was very rude to her belittling her in front of customers, bad for image and terrible for morale - of other staff too. I was then offered ‘bean to cup’ coffee but this was also with milk powder ruining the taste. One has to take the coffee to the table - why not have table service? The Jacket Potato was very dry, no butter but instead a small dollop of very cheap Margarine, mild, coloured cheddar (small amount) and masses of bland baked beans. The Traditional Breakfast (£6.50) lacked a sausage and for this price you get two rashers of bacon, a plate flooded with beans, an egg, a hash brown and a slice of soggy toast - with that horrible Margarine. This is a clean place (5 star food hygiene) and they offer a good selection of pastries and pies along side cakes and sandwiches - which to be fair looked decent. But in times where costs are high for utilities, wages and food from wholesalers, it makes it SO important to get things right. From staff behaviour to making the most of produce. A mature cheddar not mild, a slightly better vegetable and buttercream alternative to Margarine just two things they would not cost much but make a big difference - oh and some fresh milk for the coffees too. Went today for the first time in a long time, even though I'm local. We had a full English breakfast, which came with tea or coffee. I opted for a latte instead and let my husband have the coffee. Food was ordered at the counter, and drinks made while you wait. Food freshly cooked, and when it came, we was impressed. Lovely hot food, clean and tasted delicious. We both enjoyed our breakfast this morning. Will definitely return. Spent almost £10 here and wish I hadn't. The club sandwich was dry with more lettuce than any other filling, the bacon was very dry. Thank goodness I also bought a slush and small coffee. Opted for a fresh cream doughnut... Mistake! The cream tastes ike it was mixed with sugar and the doughnut it self had a very bitter soapy taste. Service from the girls was good.
