Disappointing Decline
I visited Grill City back in November 2023 with my wife and kids, and we had an excellent experience. The food was spot on, the place was clean, and the service was great. We appreciated the small touches, like the chutneys served in neat little plates, a fresh salad, and a jug of water with glasses. I was so impressed that I recommended this place to my friends.
However, during a recent visit with a group of friends coming from Middlesbrough, the experience was completely different and very disappointing. We arrived expecting the same quality but were given a cramped seating area with sticky tables. We asked to be moved, but the new table was even worse covered in small food particles, sticky surfaces, and an oily floor. The chutney, once served so nicely, was now presented in unappealing glass bottles.
When we went to the restroom to wash our hands, the situation deteriorated further. The toilets were in a terrible state, with dirty, used tissues on the sink, wet floors, and an overwhelming smell that made us lose our appetite entirely. After such a disheartening experience, we decided to leave and find somewhere else to eat, not wanting to waste our journey on what had become a bad experience.
I was genuinely embarrassed for recommending this place to my friends. Sadly, I can no longer endorse Grill City based on this visit, as the decline in cleanliness and overall quality was significant. It’s a shame to see a place that was once great fall so far in such a short time.

Thank you for your message. I appreciate you looking into the details of our recent visit. However, I’d like to clarify what happened from our perspective. When we first arrived, me and my four friends were seated at a table that was cramped and sticky. We asked to be moved and mentioned that we didn’t mind waiting. However, we weren’t given much time to wait, and it felt a bit rushed when we were directed to another table. Unfortunately, this new table was in the same condition—sticky, with small food particles on the surface. This was disappointing, especially after having been seated so quickly. We then decided to wash our hands before sitting down, but the condition of the restrooms was unacceptable. The restrooms were in a state of disarray, with dirty, used tissues on the sink, wet floors, and a strong odor that made us lose our appetite. Given the overall situation, we decided it was best to leave. Additionally, we noticed one of the staff members was preoccupied with their phone at the counter, and there was no proper greeting or anything that felt inviting when we entered. I’ve been to other restaurants that are even busier, yet they manage to maintain cleanliness and a high standard of service. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case during our visit. Regarding the cutlery setup, I understand your aim to meet customer needs. However, the sauces served in large glass bottles looked old and unappealing, which detracted from the overall experience. Had the experience been on point, we could have spent good money enjoying our meal. However, the lack of proper communication and the subpar conditions made it difficult for us to stay. I’ve updated my review to reflect four stars for the food based on my previous experience in November, but the service and atmosphere will remain rated at one star. Our recent visit was a disappointment, particularly after traveling from Middlesbrough with high expectations based on our past experience. I hope this feedback is helpful for you. Improved communication, staff training, and a stronger focus on cleanliness are essential, especially during busy times. With these adjustments, I believe Grill City can regain the high standards that initially...

i visited Grill City Bradford recently, and while the food was decent, I couldn’t help but notice the shocking way one of the staff members was being treated. A red-haired woman, clearly one of the hardest workers there, was running around tirelessly, doing everything from serving to cleaning, while the rest of the staff barely lifted a finger.
She looked completely overworked, practically running from table to table like she was holding the entire place together on her own. It was obvious she wasn’t feeling well, yet instead of being supported, she was just left to struggle while the management turned a blind eye. No appreciation, no help—just endless stress.
It’s unacceptable to see someone treated like this. Good service comes from happy, respected staff, and from what I saw, this place is failing badly in that department. Grill City needs to seriously re-evaluate how they treat their employees because no one should be worked into the ground like that.
Would I return? Not unless they start treating their staff like...
Read moreThis is probably the most under rated restaurant in bradford. Apart from the decor being standard the food is of great quality. I’m writing this review after three tries. The owner Ajmal is one of the nicest people you could meet. He’s a hands on person and that’s why you can’t tell if he’s the owner or the waiter. He’s the chef, he’s the delivery driver. He deserves recognition for his hard work. We have had the Whole grilled chicken platter, we’ve tried the lamb chops and have had their Lamb Karahi which I highly recommend as it puts most restaurants to shame. It’s the best value for money as you get the most bang for your buck. If you’re a gym enthusiast wanting some great tasting chicken without the Nando’s price or if you just like an authentic Pakistani Karahi, this is definitely the place to go.
Unless ofcourse you want fancy sofas, fancy lighting and waiters who put the napkin on your lap like your the president of Bradistan then I think you’re looking at the...
