We’ve been going to shama for almost 9 years and never had a problem until the last 3-4 times. When we’ve ordered for collection, the man on the phone (man behind the counter) is VERY rude. All I asked was to ensure that we had a hot curry this time as the time before it was clap cold and he got really offended by it and started shouting at me. When we collected the curry and he paid for it, he threw the money back in my hand. 😡 absolutely disgusting way to treat a very regular customer.. a customer that helps pay their wages!!! We went a few months ago and it gave us EXTREMELY bad runs to the point of having to leave half way through our meal!! And we also went last night thinking we’d give it one last go and I threw it all back up. It’s no where near as nice and fresh as it it used to be.
Also, their definitely trying to scam people because for 9 years we ALWAYS get the same order and every single time, they’ve charged us different. Sometimes it’s £8 less and sometimes it can be £8 more. Find this really dodgy and disrespectful. It used to be worth £40 a time but now I wouldn’t even pay 5p for it! Seems to be since they had the extension put on, they don’t seem to care as much about the quality of their food or the service! This was our absolute favourite place to go but I definitely won’t be returning, ever! Really, really disappointed!!!! I used to recommend this place to absolutely everyone and now I’ll be telling people to...
Read moreWe have been visiting this restaurant for years but last night the long-awaited lock-down takeaway was a huge disappointment. We ordered starters and mains for 3 people. The starters were rubbery and disappointing and a tad pricey for what we got (mixed vegetarian/onion bhajis/chicken tikka) and very basic with some poor "salad" but the mains were a great disappointment. We ordered through Just Eat; although one of the mains was good (prawns & spinach balti madami for £15!!) the other two were not good at all. We ordered a balti chicken tikka masala and a balti chicken tikka garlic. There was no difference to the look or taste of either and they were indistinguishable. Neither seemed garlic-y. They were also very runny and not the usual tangy, tasty meals we have had before. They both looked like a poor stew and not up to usual standards. We also thought that the naans were very expensive and the peshwari naan very pizza-like. For over £60 we thought it was very poor and were hugely disappointed. We won't be...
Read moreWent there with a group of 12 + Once settled we were asked for poppadoms and pickle trays which came out promptly. We had our bring your own wine etc and were allowed to settle without any requests to order right away. When we were ready we placed our starters and mains. The starters came in a good time for a busy restaurant. I had a mixed starter which came with 3 dips (check menu for details) on a bed of onions ( no a big deal as I'm not an onion fan, if you like Dupiaza your on a winner) With no rushing the plates were cleared and empty bottles courteous and quick. The mains followed and were at the consistent high Shama standard. Not one complaint in our group. The staff were perfect and my 16 month old daughter was passed a few chocolates during the 2 hours or so we were there from the superb and polite staff.
I thoroughly recommend this place and have done over 30 years.
Thanks and we will...
