Been wanting to go for a few years. Hubby booked for 9th July, my birthday. We were seated next to a table of four people, never met them before although lady with black hair looked familiar and one of the husband's was called Richard. Between this table of 4 and an absolutely brilliant waiter called Josh, made the atmosphere of the night and we had a lot of laughs. Josh was funny, attentive and was able to provide alternatives on a cocktail I wanted because they didn't have the ingredients. I cannot remember what I had but tasted lovely and I was given 2 of them for free because of my birthday. The lady who was sat next to me complained, in a nice cheeky manner because it is her birthday on 13th so Josh gave them a round of lemon shots. Josh was so funny and very suited to his job. He helped make my birthday memories alongside the 2 couples next to us. Laughter all night, superb banter. Well done Josh! However, my husband had a small seafood platter. He loved the mussels, but the lobster was rubbery and overcooked. (We even heard someone else say the same). Table next to us thought their lobster was beautiful. I had a pork cider pie with a gorgeous crust on the top and the gravy was delicious. The pork at the top was dry. I looked for the sauce and found a small amount in the bottom of the pie dish, which when I tried a bit of pork from the bottom, it was nice, but I left most of the pork. I also had cheesecake du jour, chocolate orange but whilst nice, it had not set properly and looked messy on the plate. The table next to us was served as we sat down and I had overheard one of them tell Josh that their food came out quickly. Our wait was between 40 and 50 minutes with no communication as to why our food took so long to come out. On the whole, a brilliant night out, but I think that was more the atmosphere created by the next table, ourselves and Josh. Unfortunately the food was barely above average, such a...

I’m not one who will often write a review on places I’ve been, but this time around felt I needed to do. I went there for a family gathering as it was my sister’s birthday so we felt the need to go somewhere nice and was not disappointed by the overall look and surroundings of the pub We sat down and had drinks and then placed our orders for food. After about an hour. I was beginning to think when was the food going to arrive. After 1 and half hours it arrived. So I was expecting everything to be just perfect, but my wife’s fish Had been left in the fryer far too long and was dry as a board so asked for a replacement which did turn up and was fine. This was then subsequently taken off the price of the bill which was very fair of them. After a few of us had ordered puddings, we then received the bill to which we all took a look at to see how much we needed to pay. We could not figure this out as some of the items on there were incorrect, so went to the bar for an explanation and found two meals on the bill shouldn’ have been on the bill and prices of other things which were incorrect at this point another couple came up to the bar as well and was asking the same thing about their bill So to sum up overall meals, not too bad, but the overall experience was not that impressive after certain issues that could have been resolved quite easily with better...

Visited the pub on a Saturday afternoon to see what this "Gastropub" might have to offer. Initial impressions were its quite small inside and the staff seemed a little disorganised.

Manager on this occasion decided to deal with the lady i held the door open for, and ignored my partner and i. We made our way to to the bar where 2 young staff were on duty - one learning the bar and dishwasher routine as it happens.

Young girl was efficient and arranged drinks for us. We were not offered a menu or table (but tables were available). We made ourselves comfortable and took in the atmosphere and watched the continued service.

Fire on the far side felt warm and inviting; but for the duration of our stay with drinks - no food passed us and things looked slow. One table paid and left - again manager seemed too busy to thank them or help direct them out etc.

A nice selection of wines; but less offerings on real ale. 2 hand pulled and i think 1 on keg. But hardly inspiring - to be honest; especially as bar staff barely looked old enough to serve alcohol - i didnt ask for a recommendation.

Hopefully the constructive comments are taken on board and maybe next time we stop in then we will be offered substantially better...

I want to leave this review because I care about this pub and its success. First off, I choose this pub because of it's excellent riverside beer garden - I just love it. The building is magnificent too - so much history. Secondly, I know the food is excellent and on my most recent visit I wasn't disappointed at all. The rest of the menu looks incredible too, and genuinely offers something you can't get elsewhere in Bingley. The beer selection is adequate too. However, the above is let down by the service: it was inattentive (asked for chips, got fries; asked for one beer and they started to pour a different one and I had to correct them) and lacking in personality and connection (this one is hard to exemplify, but no eye contact, very transactional, bare minimum of interaction). It didn't seem a busy day so don't think that could be the reason. As I've said, the food and location is brilliant and I will be back for those, and I hope that this feedback can be taken in the spirit it is meant.

This ancient pub is now a brasserie but you can come in for drinks only with limited drinkers space in the bar area. A lovely interior. Booth told me to have Ossett brewery White Rat, one of two real ales. T'other being Black Sheep. Busy food trade at 5.15 on a Saturday. Large rear beer garden/courtyard for drinkers and families overlooking the river Aire. Probably less popular in bad weather but perfect on a good evening.

How to describe... Imagine putting a morsel of food in your mouth, then weeping because you will never again in your life experience that exquisite moment where the perfect synchronicity of texture and flavour explode in a cataclysm of enjoyment. Service great, food awesome. Try it or you'll never forgive yourself.
