As a vegan/ vegetarian it was difficult to find any options. I eventually chose a vegetarian version of a Chicken sizzler and chips whilst my partner had the Chicken sizzler with chips and rice proper. To be very fair she asked for half rice half chips but we she just got a rice version plus another portion of chips at an extra cost. The food was delicious and reasonable value at £12.85 for the chicken version plus £2.50 extra for the extra chips. My vegetable sizzler was very nice too in the menu at £10 85. When the bill came we noticed that as well as not quite honouring the usual 1/2 rice half chips pricing of normal price and a half portion of each they had charged £12.75 for both meals. My partner was going to tip and pay £35. Instead we pointed out their error and duly got the bill reduced. However no tip was added given the 2 bill related issues. It's a well appointed place both spacious and airy. The staff were working very hard but as a consequence of being busy there was no chattiness as we experienced at Cobbles and Clay cafe in Main Street on 2 occasions and in 3 shops on the Main Street too. Hence the 3/5...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Called here for Lunch for my Wife's birthday, we've heard good things about this place, so decided to give it a go. We weren't disappointed. The food, the service the whole place is superb, not been in for years. Highly recommend this place we will be back. Everything was just spot on. Starters of Haloumi fries, Cajun Chicken strips and Cheesy Garlic Bread all quality. The Cajun Chicken Ciabatta has a fair boot to it, but it was delicious, the Burger my Mrs went for was outstanding, as was the Gammon my son had, and the Onion Rings..... I'm putting it out there now. They were the size of a steering wheel and the BEST we've ever had anywhere. Gladly the place is only 5 minutes away in the car because it's better than the hotel not far from us. I can't remember the name... named after some sisters from Thornton or sommat..🤔. We spent over £100 in both, and the food in The Old Sun was TOP CLASS. Keep up the outstanding work and high-quality food..👏👏👏👏👏 we're already looking forward to our next...

What a lovely place with lovely staff and great food. Stopped here heading home from Howarth (we didn't get far before spotting this place!). Really well presented, clean and fresh. The team were great especially with our 2yr old 😊. We took the Sunday Roast Platter for 2, and for £36 was ample amount for 2 that love their food. You get all the meats on offer that day (and a lot of it), homemade yorkies, pigs in blankets (and these aren't your normal dinky ones from Asda, these are whopping great big sausages!), Loads of veg Inc cauliflower cheese, roasties with lots of pepper and plenty of gravy (of which you can ask for more!). Meat was tender and melt in your mouth. Everything else was fantastic, tasty and hot too. Little fella had chicken nuggets chips and peas, which he wolfed down so must've been good. Overall, we really enjoyed it here and will definitely be back in the near future......

We popped in for something to eat. I hadn't been to this pub for about 40 years and wow it has certainly improved. On arrival we were welcomed by Beth who took our drinks order and guided us to our table. Beth took our order for our lunchtime snack and when it arrived we were not disappointed. I had a hot roast beef sandwich and my wife a cajun chicken sandwich. Both in ciabatta bread along with beautiful salad leaves and home cooked chips. We have promised to return for their thursday night quiz, which we are looking forward to.
