Went for a work Christmas party last night. Food was tasty, and staff were great, but the atmosphere was awful - all tables were all corporate Xmas meals - no problem with that at all - I was on one of them, however the set up felt like as many large tables were crammed in as possible and there were tonnes of people at the bar waiting for tables. Far too many people and so much chaos (albeit organised chaos) - it was a sensory overload being in there, quite claustrophobic, so so loud - we were all exhausted by it by the end and couldn't wait to leave. Lights were too bright - needs some more ambience. That said, a huge shout out to the staff - working with that much (organised) chaos and still doing a great job, no delays, smiles on their faces and super friendly. Food was good quality so props to the chefs also for keeping up with the huge tables and how busy it was. Huge well done you them all - they must be truly exhausted by the end of the night and by the end of Xmas period! But would just say it you maybe didn't cram so many large tables in both the customers and staff might have...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt I had to after having breakfast here today. We’ve been to Aqua Welsh Back and Clifton many times in the past but hadn’t visited recently.
When we arrived, we asked to sit outside in the sun, but the staff member who greeted us was a bit abrupt.
I ordered a salted caramel espresso martini, but it was overwhelmingly syrupy and made me feel sick, I had 3 sips and couldn’t stomach it any further. My brioche bun with bacon and egg looked like something from a McDonald’s drive-thru and, again, made me feel unwell. My partner had the standard breakfast, which was just okay, but we remember it being so much better in the past, so it was disappointing. To make matters worse, his tea was served in a dirty mug with a hair on the rim.
Sadly, the quality at Aqua has really gone downhill. It’s a lovely place to sit, but we won’t be returning.
They did take my breakfast off the bill which was appreciated but still felt like a waste of...
Read moreThis restaurant is OK. The waiting staff are it's main asset and they are excellent. Very professional but still remaining human and friendly. The problem is the chef. He or she just can't cook. We were served an unedible steak which the staff changed without hesitation, followed by a steak that was cold and uncooked inside. The staff were brilliant again but at the end of the day this is a restaurant where the purpose is to actually eat some food. Paying someone to cook should mean something special but we really could have stayed at home and cooked something nice. The atmosphere was OK. A big place, quite noisy and canteen like. The only views of the water are the tables at the front so the website photos are a bit deceptive. I'm sad about this as the staff are so lovely but let down by the food. The first steak was just poor quality meat, but the second one was fine and proved that the chef didn't know how to...
