Absolutely Awful! We eat here every time we go to the theatre. Tonight we went to do the same. Went to the bar to order food, I ordered 3 meals and then mine - a fish finger sandwich. I was told this was only available at lunch time. No where on the menu does it say this. I was then offered “maybe a burger or fish and chips?” So I asked how fish and chips could be done but not fish in bread and butter. I was rather abruptly told by a male member of staff that I could say what I like but I wouldn’t be getting what I want. I won’t lie I was miffed not at the staff but the menu needs to be clearer and said head office needed to change the menu then as it doesn’t say anything about certain food only being served at certain times. The bloke walked off, I picked a chicken burger ordered my drinks and then said I had a blue light card. The young girl serving us said she needed a manger to do the discount and walked away. I thought nothing of it until a lady approached and greeted me with “what’s the problem!” I said I didn’t have one and simply wanted to pay for my food but what was the man called as I would be contacting head office about the menu. The manager said I am not obliged to give you any information about my staff. So I asked her name- she again refused to let me have it. I tried to point out that it was simply as a point of reference to say “ I spoke with Joe Bloggs in the Drawbridge on Saturday about the menu not being up to date” Then to my amazement I was informed that the first young girl who served me was “distraught” from serving us. The girl then reappeared and I said have I upset you. The girl said “a bit” I really didn’t and still don’t understand how. The manager then said we could have our drinks for free but we were not welcome to eat there!!! She said I was aggressive and abusive but at no point did I swear or even raise my voice after all the menu is not the staffs fault- they don’t print them! I told them I didn’t want the free drinks. I have never been so humiliated. Needless to say I will not be returning and while the manager informed me it an “emotive job” she escalated the matter to something it really didn’t need to be. I shall be contacting head office on Monday but now my complaint isn’t just about the menu it’s about the way in which the situation was so badly dealt with. In all of this the most professional of the staff was the young girl who initially served me. I have Children of a similar age and no way would I have wanted to upset her over something out of her control. Also if I was so aggressive surely I should of just been told to leave not offered...

Awful place just using covid rules as an excuse for bad manners, poor service and indifferent attitude. Went on Friday night at 8:45. Sign in the entrance said wait here to be seated so we did.....for 10 minutes, nobody came so walked around to the bar, saw bar staff and asked if we coukd sit at the empty table. She said that we had to wait at the entrance to be seated......I explained! Went back to the entrance and was greated by a staff member just arrived who took us to the table we had indicated previously. Had to register my card details at the till in case we decided to leave without paying apparently. Never had to do that anywhere before in the UK or abroad. Now we wait for service. ........and wait.....in plain view. Lots of staff pass us by. Barmaid can see us but doesn't direct any waiter to us. Eventually flagged one down. Order taken and we wait......and wait. Drinks arrive eventually then a couple of minutes later at 9:15pm they call last orders! Downed my pint and tried to get served again......same difficulty but this time I ordered 2 pints as am getting wiser now. At 9:30pm, music off, lights on. waiter comes to the table proffering plastic cups as saying that they had to close. I said yes you do, at 10PM. No he says unless you want a ÂŁ10,000 fine you have to leave so we can clean up and be out by 10, thats the law. I informed him it wasnt the law and that provided every customer was out by 10pm and the doors closed it was the only requirement. I told him we would be and we were. Totally unnecessary rudeness, obnoxious staff and appalling service. Recommended another...

What an unfortunately bad experience that was! We went in on a Saturday evening. The place looked like it just had a train crossing through. All empty tables were dirty and full of plates and glasses. We had to use the also dirty food menus to cover the table. Went to order at the bar. Ordered a cider, a small beer shandy and another beer. Barman asked which beer, we asked for Abbot. (Sorry. That one's out) Old speckled hen then. (Sorry. That's out too. We only have GK IPA on.) Fine. IPA then. We paid and he started getting the drinks. Halfway through the small shandy, the IPA went out too, so we had to choose a lager. Then I had to get a refund for the 1,5 drinks and pay a higher amount for the price difference, as the lager is more expensive. Obviously the bank takes the money straight away but sits on the money before they process the refund, but that's a minor nuisance. After this we got the shandy but as the barman started pouring the pint, the lager went out as well. At this point he said he will go down to change the barrel. 😂 The whole situation was just comical at that point so we never dared to ask if they could change the Abbot as well while there, cause that would have been our original preference. Not to mention asking for a cloth so we could wipe the table. During our stay we've seen -clearly- a customer collecting the plates from the table he was to sit down at. It was quite a bit of a chaos for a Saturday evening, in a prime...

Booked a table for a meal and drinks a couple of weeks back. It was a bit busy when we arrived and it took a while to find a staff to show us our table. There seemed to have been a mix-up and our reservation couldn't be found. However, the staff was able to fix it in no time. Friendly and professional staff. Generous food portions. We loved the sharing plates. I ordered the BBQ chicken. Although a little bit on the dry side, it was still very flavourful. Good drinks selection. I loved the old photos of and sketches on the wall and the trivia that the front of the pub used to be part of the river a long time ago. Overall a good experience.

Stopped in for a bite to eat with the kids as we are travelling from Australia. Wasn’t sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. We had some delicious starters which filled us up so much that we struggled with our mains! I had the fish and it was so fresh and crispy; hubby had the pie which was delish. Kids had nuggets but they filled up too much prior too! I hated leaving behind food so hopefully this review just goes to show what a great portion you get. Such a beautiful building too. It started to get busy as we were leaving so I could see what a fun atmosphere it would have when busier!

The only reason you would pop in is for convenience. Expensive but that's expected for city centre. Only really wanted to use the bathroom, but all 3 male cubicles didn't have a lock on, luckily I'm not shy and didn't mind someone swinging the door open mid poo. It's a Monday evening. Maybe the graffiti in the second cubicle implies this is an issue for a while.... For a brewery pub, this should be embarrassing. Clearly not... Waiting to post photos if I can...
