I am very busy just now, but I felt that I must write now as I feel very much thst this is a very very good find for me. And for others too I reckon. 5 stars no doubt. And I would like to question as other businesses get and one wonders why so, the negative or very negative reviews of here of late, given...?? I am not sure if one or another visited here or they are confusing it with another place....??? I believe each of must acknowledge that to over negatively review any business online can end up in being very serious matter. There are laws of the land there for us all, and eg of slander etc ... in the extreme cases, where the motive has been wrong or careless could not care ways publish. And we need to take good care so.
We use stonehouse regularly so when on holiday last week I searched if there was a stonehouse nearby the henbury arms came up at being 44 mile away but as we were craving our weekly carvery decided it would be worth the drive How wrong were we We ordered 2 adult carverys and 2 childs carvery Meat on offer was pork , beef or gammon unfortunately my partner only eats Turkey which is always available at our regular stonehouse so decided not to have meat no mention of a refund was given. My son asked if he could have sausage in which he was given 2 sausages Myself opted for each meat but when we came to the veg the look of the carvery was pretty dismal the food had obviously been standing for a long time the green beans were stringy , the onion in gravy had been that overcooked it rated strange not too mention the gravy within was a lumpy mess , the roast potatoes were stale and dried up and looked more like a jacket potatoes and when I attempted to pour gravy on my dinner I had to scrape the top crust off the top and then it was lumps. Back at the table my son said dad I'm sorry but I cannot eat this sausage it's too hard when I looked it was as if the sausage had been cooked and reheated many times making the outer skin hard and dried up. My partner also said I don't tho k I can eat this At this time I reluctantly asked a member of staff if I could speak to a manager In which I was told I'm a duty manager I'm Keith I explained the situation and was told all the food was replaced at 19:30 now I arrived at the resturant at 19:15 and nobody had replaced anything I then mentioned the sausage and Keith replied yes it's not the best. He then said it's hard to please everyone with a carvery as so.epeople like the roasties like that and others like them crispy I replied but they are neither there stale and dried up. Keith asked if we wanted to change our meals to pizza or burgers but as I pointed out the chips on display were hard and stale I've heard of triple cooked but these were terrible. Keith then offered me a full refund in which I'm very gratefull I also want to thank Keith for the way he dealt with my complaint and the solution We then drove 50 mile back to our holiday site stopping off reroute for mcdonalds. Stonehouse was a high on my list of resturants we ate in but this experience has made me cautious off returning these resturants have a potential of being very good but are let down with...
Read moreI wasn't going to leave a review after my first disappointing visit back in January '23 but having given this place the benefit of the doubt and recently visiting for a second time I was unfortunately, once again, disappointed.
In January I ordered a pizza with pulled beef, which I paid more for, as an extra and was presented with a pizza with nothing extra on it and when I questioned it, the waitress went and asked the chef about it and they replied that there was some on there but it was the end of the pack and they had no more. As a head chef with well over 20 years experience myself this felt like an insult to my intelligence as I can truthfully say there was nothing added onto my pizza... They wouldn't even refund the extra I'd paid because "We'd paid using their app" which is completely unacceptable.
Fast forward to mid August and a trip there for breakfast and wow, where do I start? The worst part was being told I can't have mustard with my breakfast because they "Don't serve it with breakfasts any more!" The hash browns in the bottom of the tray were submerged in well over an inch of oil, (I wish I'd taken a photo in hindsight but believe me I'm not exaggerating,) the black pudding was so dehydrated it was like what I imagine trying to chew rubber would be like, which, if I'd had some mustard, may have been a little more edible, the majority of the food was cold, the eggs had been cooked by someone who either has no idea what a fried egg is or just doesn't care and the over-all attitude of most of the staff was appalling, moping about like they didn't want to be there, especially one of the kitchen staff who walked straight past the empty bacon tray and not even notice it was empty, leaving people in front of me waiting for someone else to eventually appear from the kitchen.
It seems to me that this place is lacking any real structure and leadership and I'd genuinely be ashamed to say I work here if that was the case.
The clear takeaway from this is that the company running this place is pushing way to far for quantity over quality and hiring unqualified staff who lack any customer service skills and a cook who can't even cook a breakfast. ...
