Ordering food as a customer with food intolerances was upsetting, alienating and deeply problematic in many ways. I visited Miro Lounge Tuesday, early afternoon. As an establishment that claims to create a sense of belonging and prints its menus to claim 'gluten free' options and to manage food intolerances, my experience was very lacking. The bar staff at the point of making the order did not appear to have had any training in managing or communicating the company approach to dealing with food intolerances walked away, leaving me standing at the bar with no explanation. The manager who subsequently took my order was both defensive and adversarial in explaining the lapse. There is also a disclaimer to read set out in very legalistic language that further sets the food intolerant customer out as a problem to be managed not welcomed. The whole transaction felt very adversarial. The food order (Buddha bowl done as a gf option) tasted excellent with a great blend of punchy flavours. This does not inspire confidence in food intolerance practices at Miro Lounge. The term 'gluten free' is a term underwritten by law and has stringent requirements. I have concerns that the menu is misleading in its bold claims to be gluten free. Low gluten or made with gluten free ingredients would be more accurate although the FSA would advise. Overall, a poor experience after years of regular dining at its previous incarnation as Bocabar. I hope Miro Lounge can address...
Read moreI hope this is read and taken on board as feedback, because the lounges are ok restaurants as a whole.....
Miro Lounge has replaced a bar and restaurant used by local residents and businesses, and like many Lounge restaurants, kind of falls short on the bar aspect. No communal areas for larger groups and no umbrellas on the terrace (kind of vital during the heatwave at the moment), so social work gatherings are somewhat discouraged.
The food is as expected with the lounge restaurants, but the bar doesn't stock any local beers on tap, with a selection of 4/5 imported lagers, and one ale (Meantime, owned by Asahi). I stress - Miro Lounge is replacing a local business, but does not stock any local beers or ciders. Charging in excess of £6 for a pint that is made by a large corporate brewer, when other establishments charge less for local, independent beer, feels pretty short sighted on Lounge HQ's part.
I can't hide my disappointment - a large corporate entity has taken the place of a good local business and has failed to consider the gap...
Read moreBeen to so many lounges like Clevedon and isle of wight amazing! though this must be the worst for food though bar staff are polite here and lovely ! My partner had a vegan curry only slightly warm. And I had a breakfast wherever you go you should always expect high standards of food! No matter the cost! But the breakfast I had even though it was at 8.50 pm it was grosse! Sausage was dried out you could tell it was reheated ! Even though u are not meant to heat up pork again! Mushroom was all shrivelled up and tomatoes! And egg was over cooked! They didn't even bring butter for toast! And the dried egg was presented on toast! It's so sad they serve up this crap! Because it was! Should be ashamed has it was not even busy ! I only complained about the egg! Even then I got questioned on it !
