But Rana Dhaba in Bristol stands out as an absolute culinary gem—serving us a fantabulous lunch-turned-dinner that transported us straight back to India.

The food? Authentic, nostalgic, and economical.

Chole Bhature – Just like the best of Delhi street food.

Crisp Vegetable Pakoras – Reminiscent of what we relish at Border Security Force Outposts.

Kadak Samosas – The kind we’d get at Regimental Baniya.

Rajma Chawal – A soul-satisfying experience, much like Ramban’s famous flavors in Jammu & Kashmir.

Kadak Chai – Just like my regimental tea from a pure Sikh unit, where the troops swear by, "Doodh cheeni thok ke, teh patti rok ke!"

A huge salute to Mohinder Singh Chowdhry, our warm and welcoming host, and to the kitchen brigade led by Mrs. Mohini Singh and Mrs. Bholawanti, who worked magic behind the chulah. The service? Swift, sharp, and professional, thanks to Jasmine Kaur, who ensured our orders landed with military precision.

Sorry, I used to love this place, but it's gone downhill. On two seperate occasions, I have ordered a paneer curry, only to get to where I was going to eat it and find there was no paneer in it. The first time, the young man who served me, pretended (when I went back to sort it out) that he had told me there was no paneer, although this was a straight lie, which I found very disrespectful. He didn't offer me a refund, but asked me to pay the difference for a meat curry instead. I really thought it would be better when the older woman was back, but she has just served me a sag paneer with no paneer in, and I don't have time to go back and sort it out.

If I find they have improved again, I will be happy to change my rating, but I would be wary about returning in the meantime.

Mother Rana isn’t at 2nd sight only about quality home made Indian Cuisine. It gave me a home feeling. Family affairs from India in England. The highest quality of standards like Samosa, home made from one day before for 1£. Impressive, tasty and second to none!

A small place, with rich taste, love and infinite care for its daily customers. I even lost my wallet before my departure and she really went to the place where I lost it and shipped it to Germany! 100.000 kisses and Love.
