Coffee#1 Bristol Union Street — Restaurant in Bristol

I had a deeply disappointing experience at “ Coffee #1 “ Union Street. on 07/04/25 around 18:15. I was refused access to the toilet by a female Asian staff member, who insisted it was “for customers only”—failing to acknowledge that I could have been a paying customer. I was in genuine need and visibly distressed, and instead of offering basic human decency or assistance, she treated me with indifference and unnecessary rigidity.

It was clear from her attitude that she either lacked empathy or has never had to face a similar situation herself. Unfortunately, such behaviour reflects poorly not just on her, but on the entire establishment—especially considering she is often the first and only point of contact for customers.

Given this and the numerous other negative reviews this place seems to have gathered, it’s clear that this isn’t an isolated issue. I have no intention of returning and would advise others to think twice before supporting a business that treats...

Been here everyday this week as it’s very convenient for me before work, form Monday to Thursday was served by 2 ladies and they were wonderful always happy and smiling even when hit with such and early morning rush of coffee drinkers. Came here Friday and don’t think I’ve ever met a person with almost no motivation, no smile almost a frown. It was as if we the customers were making it inconvenient for them to be working.. been in the hospitality industry myself and have to say very disappointed with this. Stopped in and ordered a soya iced coffee, the person who served me then asked another employee to make the drink. As she started to make the drink I noticed it was cows milk and I said “sorry I ordered soy is that okay” she said “did you order soy” and I said “yes”. She then rolled her eyes and glared at the other employee. I felt like a huge inconvenience just being there, not nice. I realise she was probably mad at the other employee and she when i apologised she said “it’s fine” but I felt sooo uncomfortable. If I hadn’t of noticed the wrong milk was used I probably would have shat myself shortly after drinking, so...
