I Wasn't too sure of this place when I looked it up mainly due to the photos online..
It looks like a real old gents pub and wasn't sure if it would have anybody intl there.. but on my first visit to meet a good friend I soon realised this is part of the character of the pub, old.. young everyone's in there having a time. Just nice people great atmosphere and lovely bar staff. A brief chat with the chef on the first NIGHT I was in and she said she doesn't mind working over if I'm needing food. That as first impressions is a nice touch.
Today was my second visit just for a couple of after work drinks solo, I'd already eaten so wast looking for food but the smell from the kitchen was enough to entice a greedy Yorkshire man like myself to order again! I chose the Pork Poutine as I'd been recommended and...
....All I can say is comfort food!!!
It reminds me of Cullen Skink, a smoked haddock winter warmer from the Highlands where I usually live, but not by taste, just the good feeling of eating something that makes you want to be at home eating in front of a movie.
Lovely little venue with outside seating great staff throughout and a good bar menu, will definitely be back to try more of the menu!!

Read moreThis historic pub is an amazing find in Bristol. It is deceptive in size with a small frontage but once inside it opens up to a far greater extent with large rooms underneath the notable and significant Almshouse next door to the pub. There is outdoor seating at the front of the pub and quirky characterful yet spacious garden area to the rear.
A really welcoming pub with character makes all guests feel at home. A distinct feeling of a popular pub where strangers quickly become friends with the welcoming and engaging approach of both staff and locals. Regulars include local residents, university students, academics, hospital staff and family of longer term hospital patients. Weekly events include a very popular and entertaining pub quiz on Monday evenings as well as themed events and of course the extremely popular Sunday Roasts.
I cannot recommend...

I would recommend this pub to anyone, sky sports, free Wi-fi, pool table, outside facilities out the front and back and a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you to all the staff at the...
