The Sportsman — Restaurant in Bristol

The lady who was serving me when I ordered a pizza was extremely rude for no reason when wanting to order and demanded us to locate a table number when we said wanted to sit down right next to the bar anyway. My friend decided on a pizza in which I changed by letting her know I’d like this one instead. She then charges us for pizzas by mistake which we noticed, I then let her know we wanted 1 pizza and began to be extremely rude again to stormed off when we asked for a refund. The manager comes out and explains to us we was being rude and said we was swearing at her her which was all false accusations. I ask the manager to check the CCTV and she laughs at me to check for what. Overall really poor experience from the two members of staff, usually really nice to play pool but not sure if these two workers had a bit too much sun...

I went there with my wife & son & our dog and left them in the courtyard to get the drinks which they said they would bring to us in the courtyard. I said we are the ones with a Jack Russell at which point they said because the owners have a cat that we couldn't drink them in the courtyard, but we could use the garden. Meanwhile my wife was being told we had to leave the premises. I asked for a refund on my son's drink because he had to leave to take the dog home and we were told we could take the lemonade home in a plastic cup!. We didnt defy the sign that says no dogs but simply didnt see it until we went back to look. we could find one sign poorly situated in the courtyard not on the entrance. When we pointed it out they said we were being unfair. Otherwise wine good but place smelt...

What a delicious! steak and ale stew, plus good old fashioned mash pot. Very very good ! Served up at just the right hot food temp. -- as others don't at times these days, who serve food not heated through and lose that zippy tastiness for the food also. But just the job here though, for lovely winter time stew. What a nice suprise as I was not even planning to stop here for food. But thought it would be worth it, as ending up here on a walk. ... Very much can recommend The Sportsman, -off Gloucester Rd in Bishopston, near the Prison and Sainsbury's, down Nevil Rd opposite -, on this experience and ... great to find on Boxing Day in the neighbourhood here open and opening at 12 midday on the dot.
