The Wellhead — Restaurant in Bristol

We had a very disappointing experience at this cocktail bar. We had made a confirmed booking for a large group for a friend’s birthday, but when we arrived, the staff told us there was no record of it. We waited while they checked, showing them our booking confirmation and the follow-up emails we had sent to confirm the details. Instead of accepting responsibility, they tried to shift the blame onto us, claiming we hadn’t finalised the booking — even though we clearly had.

Eventually, we were given a space, but it was obvious the bar hadn’t prepared properly. We were placed outside, uncovered, unheated, and in the rain — far from the “sophisticated, exclusive space” promised in their brochure. It was honestly embarrassing. When we asked if we could move into one of the covered areas as other groups began to leave, we were told those spaces were reserved for someone else. Despite our own confirmed booking, it seemed that other reservations were given priority.

Adding to the unwelcoming atmosphere, staff insisted we all remain seated for no apparent reason. This was particularly absurd given that their own brochure states the venue can accommodate up to 60 standing or 40 seated, so clearly standing is allowed. We were outdoors, cold, and simply chatting and socialising as you might expect in a cocktail bar, yet were treated as though we were a nuisance.

Unwelcoming and disorganised staff, poor service, and subpar drinks made for an uncomfortable and disappointing evening that completely ruined what should have been a special...

The Wellhead was an incredible choice for our wedding celebration. From the first moment we stepped in, the staff made everything feel easy and joyful. There was a genuine warmth to the way they welcomed us and looked after every detail without ever being intrusive.

The drinks were outstanding. Each one felt thoughtfully crafted, and our guests could not stop talking about how good everything tasted. The setting itself created such a lovely atmosphere. It struck the perfect balance between being relaxed and feeling like a real occasion.

What stood out most was how supported we felt throughout. The whole team seemed completely committed to making sure we had the best time. Nothing felt like a hassle, and we could just enjoy every moment knowing we were in good hands. We ordered Pizza from next door which worked perfectly!

We truly could not have dreamt of a better venue than the Wellhead to host us for our Wedding celebration. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Every single person was so friendly, genuine, and accommodating. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble. The drinks were absolutely delicious, beautifully made, and served with such care and attention. The atmosphere was relaxed but refined, and it made for the perfect setting to bring everyone together. We felt completely looked after throughout and are so grateful to the whole team for making the experience so easy and enjoyable.
