We've been in to both the St Phillips Taproom and Finzels Reach Brewpub many times and our visit was their usual high standards.

We were in about 830 on Friday 26 Jan and it was busy but not rammed & we sat a table downstairs - the first thing that struck us was the absolutely terrible music coming out of the speakers, we have diverse music taste but it sounded like someone had left their own play list on and it was into the deepest depths of their playlists. Not exactly early evening chilled tunes

Service at the bar was unusually dreadful too - normally the staff behind the bar are really on it & helpful but on this occasion I stood at the front of the bar - ( front of well there was no queue) for over 5 minutes - a chap in a red waistcoat looked at me then spun his corkscrew and wandered off - other staff just seemed not to be focussed and then just served others. I had to check what I was wearing as genuinely thought I had my cloak of invisibility on.

We eventually managed to order drinks and a couple of Pizzas. Looking around there seemed to be lots of tables with empty glasses on that hadn't been collected again not what it's usually like. Although after 10 minutes or so a staff member went round and gathered up a stack of glasses half as tall as them.

Even the Pizzas weren't up to scratch, they arrived 5 minutes apart & my partners one was lets call it "Welldone" now I appreciate the Pizzas are separate and maybe it was a combination of all the above, but it really wasn't what we've experienced before when visiting. Will it put us off from coming back, I'm not sure but it certainly won't encourage us to come in.

All in all I'd rate our visit 5 out of 10. Nudged up by the beer.

Just to say I did email this feedback to the LFG team but...

The staff are like walking zombies, incredibly rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. I think they are literally the worst staff we've ever come across.

Awful venue for families-no highchairs, no changing tables in the toilets, no children's drinks.

Even worse staff to deal with families. We were sat on the third floor, a group of us and three staff saw us, with buggies and babies, no one mentioned the floor was closed. We then went to order, had to go all the way down to be met with a very rude manager I assume, told us the floor was closed... So we had to move us all to another floor then go back down and order.

We ordered before two big parties had arrived and had to wait an hour for three pizzas and two garlic breads. When we asked the staff, we were met with even more stone faced responses. To then only be told that one pizza we ordered wasn't available. In the mean time the two other tables were on their second round of pizzas. An hour later, our pizzas arrived and the pizza place didn't offer us any concessions for the wait. The pizza for the high prices were dough, a tomato base and some cheese-you had to pay extra for some small tiny dips. We didn't get our difference in money back for the pizza that they couldn't supply.

The pizza was served on some piece of card /paper - the waitress balanced two in her hand one bent up in her elbow crease of a jumper.. And then pulled out the mayo dip from her pocket.. She looked so zonked out... Really unhygienic...and just cold staff.

Waste of time, waste of money,...

I often frequent the Left Handed Giant and I have to say, I'm always blown away by the experience! This place has everything: a unique atmosphere, amazing beer brewed in-house, and delicious pizza that was simply out of this world.

Firstly, the atmosphere was absolutely perfect. It was funky, quirky, and fun, with a great mix of people and a really welcoming vibe. I loved the decor and the music, and it was clear that this was a place where you could relax and have a good time.

But let's talk about the beer! This place had an incredible selection of craft beer, all of which was brewed in-house. Each beer was distinct and full of flavor, and there were plenty of options to choose from. I was impressed by the quality and variety of the beer, and I appreciated that the staff were happy to make recommendations based on my preferences.

And let's not forget about the pizza! The pizza was absolutely delicious, with a crispy crust and a generous helping of toppings. It was clear that the pizza was made with care and attention, and it was the perfect complement to the amazing beer.

Overall, I had an amazing time at LHG. The beer was fantastic, the pizza was delicious, and the atmosphere was unbeatable. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun night out or just a great place to grab a drink and a bite to eat. Thank you to the staff for an...

This is not a brewery. It's a Super-Brewery. It can get a little noisy at peak times and there is frequently a queue at the bar several person's deep, but it's worth the wait. There's an >excellent< selection of craft pale ales, stout and cider on offer at reasonable prices, though it 'aint cheap: but if you want quality, it's well worth the price and this stretches to the pizzas too, which are excellent indeed. Noting other reviews for LHG, there are some points of interest that they've pointed out: There is no smoking here, even outside. + This is is a good thing + :0) There is no "proper" ale, such as that which a CAMRA afficionado would recognise. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as the variety of beer on sale is of seriously good quality and there's a tremendous variety of style and flavour, and not just form LHG but other small batch Brewers too. There is more than one cider on sale now, as of the end of June '19. Not all will be pleased with this venue, but as a social beer drinker out with friends to have a great time without getting sloshed, I can't rate LHG any higher. Side note to finish: Pale ale is popular with brewers as it can be produced and canned within a couple of days. A proper CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale) type ale can be a work of art and take a lot longer to brew - and also take a lot more care in cellaring. Ergo less profit to be made.

Fantastic selection of fresh beer in a brilliant setting. We went on a sunny Friday afternoon and the place had a really nice buzz to it. I can imagine it gets pretty hectic in the downstairs seating, but there's additional seating upstairs which seemed much quieter. Located in a fantastic building, there are a huge range of beers available on tap at 1/3, 2/3, 1/2 and pint measures depending on the style and your preferences. We tried some pales, wild fermented beers, a fruit sour and a cider and all were top notch. Pizza is available from Pizza is Lovely, but we didn't try on this occasion. Wonderful to see that all the pizzas are vegetarian and can be made vegan on request, though I imagine the choice of meat-descriptors on the menu might confuse some people. In all, brilliant setting and brilliant beer. Can't wait to go back!
