First time having wingstop, delivery to my house which is why I've not reviewed service / atmosphere

For a place that has wings in the name, it's crazy how low quality the wings are. Boneless bites are better, tenders are best.

SIDES / SAUCES

Fries "wingstop style" - did I get cheated, because mine don't seem to have anything on? (see photo) Cajun fries nice enough Yes, the ranch is good. So is the blue cheese sauce. Didn't try honey mustard to comment on that.

CHICKEN / FLAVOURS

Lemon pepper boneless and wings: I didnt mean to double up on one flavour. Nice enough flavour, quite subtle. As already mentioned thought, the wings on the bone are dead.

Original buffalo wings: flavour is ok, quality of the wings ruin it.

Garlic Parmesan tenders: got these as tenders as I heard you get more sauce / flavour on the tenders, but this was still subtle. Tasty enough, especially with the blue cheese dip. But Popeye's have them beat on the garlic parmesan bites.

Hickory smoked BBQ tenders: tastes exactly like you would expect. I wouldn't normally go for BBQ but wanted to try as many flavours as possible. If you normally like this flavour then they were great.

Spicy Korean boneless: most disappointing for me, too sweet. Not a bad flavour, but even I preferred hickory smoked.

Mango habanero boneless: sweet up front, the heat builds up quickly though. Quite nice, but I found them sickly.

Louisiana rub boneless: both subtle and salty at the same time, but I liked these. Just not a distinct enough flavour to wow.

Flavours I didn't try

  1. Atomic spicy (I have stuff to do tomorrow! Lol)
  2. Brazilian citrus pepper - I should have got these instead of accidentally doubling up on the lemon pepper
  3. Hawaiian - heard they were sweet so wasn't keen to try, and couldn't have tried them anyway, without buying...

Tried Wingstop for the first time about a week ago - if you’re hungry and want something a bit different, it’s worth a try. I wouldn’t expect it to blow your mind, though.

We got our order to go to take to the cinema (as we didn’t have a huge amount of time). They let you choose 2 flavours of sauce for your wings, which is cool - a good way to try a couple of things at once. I chose garlic & parmesan and hickory smoked BBQ. The former didn’t really taste of garlic at all, which is a shame; however, there was a lot of BBQ sauce and it had a little kick to it, which was nice.

Unfortunately, the fries were a bit cold, even as soon as I opened them (this was only about 10 mins after receiving our order, so they must’ve been sitting around for a bit or something). The wings themselves were quite nice - I’m pretty sure they’d been deep fried, as they had a good crisp to them. My husband got the boneless wings and said they weren’t anything special, so I’d recommend going ‘bone in’ if you’re getting something from there.

Some people in the restaurant had gloves on, so I’m guessing they’d gone pretty hot with the sauces. Be prepared for some fire, if you’re choosing the hotter sauces!

My biggest gripe was when they asked if we had any allergies (I do), they directed us to a website to check the ingredients, but the site didn’t actually list what was in the sauces! I really like that they’ve got a good procedure in place; however, it’s not very helpful if they don’t say what ingredients are used. I asked the server, but she didn’t know, so I just took my chances (NB: it was fine, thankfully - I just avoided the sauces that sounded like they might contain what I’m allergic to).

A good place to try if you need...

As a big fan of chicken wings I was so so so excited to see a fast food store specialising in wings open up in Cabot. I was thoroughly disappointed and it was definitely not worth the hype.

First of all, the decor and style of ordering is like that of a fast food shop but the prices definitely reflect that of a restaurant. I wouldn't have minded if I didn't have to wait over 30mins for my order. The man next to me was before me in the queue and had to wait even longer! I would have gone to a restaurant or cooked it myself if I knew I would have to wait that long.

It's literally just all deep fried the same and smothered in types sauce. No marinating what so ever.

What made it insufferable was the obnoxiously loud music. You could not hear other people talk to you, especially when the staff called out the order numbers. It's a wonder how anyone could sit in to eat for a long period of time. Definitely not a nice place for a conversation or date. Or to even wait so long for your order.

Also how they Price their menu is ridiculous.

A wings platter sharer is £22.50 You only get 24 wings, 3 flavours and maybe 1 dip.

HOWEVER. If you get 2x12 wings at £21 total (also 24), you get 4 FLAVOURS AND 2 DIPS.

WHY?! It's so much worse to get the wings platter! Surely it should be a better deal?!

Also when they count wings they don't count WHOLE wings. They chop up the drum from the wing and count each individual chopped part as 1 wing. Shocking. I'm pretty sure they short changed us and gave us less wings too.

Not worth the wait, choice, or...
