I haven't been since theTokyo menu at CW as it was a very traumatic experience. Shame they still haven't improve since and heading towards over expansion and failed to maintain quality. One star is for the lovely staff. If I could ask for a refund, I would. It was a disappointing experience that waste of calories and time. Overall, this doesn't bring us back to San Sebastian, it tarnished the lovely city name if anything. Everything was over salty, cold, and lacking balance or harmony. Tortilla - very salty and very sweet at the same time. Caviar - no, it should be called Leek, hardly any caviar when is fine but the leek is the main character here. Sadly the leek was not very well managed. We both hate the cold pea pesto. Foraged Mushtooms - very well balanced between all elements (finally!) Let down by cold and very cooked gnocchi. Barbecue coal Fish - the most anticipated dish yet again another disappointment. The 'smoked' mussel was not fresh, mushy and do nothing to the dish apart from making it worse. The fish was overcooked but at least it was hot ! The toasted hazelnut was lovely, shame about the temperature, it was cold again so when you eat that with the fish in one bite, it just unpleasant. Pork - Salty, cold, unable to understand why pair the very salty, heavy pork with another heavy la great bons bons - it makes zero sense. The black garlic was too heavy seasoned which fsoled to pull the overly salty pork back. Love the celeriac 3 ways, especially the long strains and original, very refreshing. Pork bon bon - Greasy, lukewarm, unevenly fried, lovely tximitxurri. Basque Cheesecake - Probably the worst one I ever had, didn't finish it. The walnut was great tho. It wasn't a Basque cheesecake, at most it was a badly baked cheesecake. Strangely there were no regional wine or even Spanish wine on the wine pairing, all French and Italian only which didn't interest us. All the tables were so close and the music was loud. You can see how uncomfortable some other diners are. We were sadly sat by the till which wasn't nice either. I understand the idea of getting more people into proper cooking but please, fix your cooking. The experience was the same as eating at pizza express, with a limited menu, massive produced food that get re heat on site, with occasional good elements but no proper cooking. Tiny portions of mass produced food in a chain restaurant at pizza express quality with overpriced products for Instagram.

For the attention-span challenged: **Just go. It's brilliant.** Now, for those capable of reading more than a tweet without swiping away: Six by Nico in Bristol has nailed the elusive restaurant trifecta (or, in this case, sextet)—ambiance, service, food, concept, atmosphere, and *yes*, that magical ingredient: the urge to come back. It’s a proper treasure trove. The venue? Sophisticated yet unpretentious, with an open kitchen that invites you into the action rather than lurking in moody shadowland like some pretentious speakeasy. The lighting is perfect for people who like to see both their food *and* their dining companion, and, bless them, they’ve spaced the tables far enough apart so you don’t feel like you’ve gatecrashed a stranger’s anniversary dinner. The concept? Six courses, each curated around a theme, not as a gimmick but as a playful yet masterful culinary story. There’s theatre, but it’s genuine, not overblown. When the smoke-laden cloche is lifted, it’s not a cheap trick—a masterpiece like smoked pork belly waits underneath. Bravo. The service? Immaculate. Josh, our server, deserves a BAFTA for his performance: polished yet personable, a raconteur who somehow balances knowledge of the menu with chatting about hometown triumphs, like his local chippy and *that* Triumph Motorcycle factory. Effortlessly engaging, never pushy—a perfect maître d’ of the evening. And the food—oh, the food! It’s a culinary symphony that begins with curry sauce and ends with Mars bar heaven. Every course strikes the perfect balance of indulgence and restraint; you're satiated, not stuffed. These folks know exactly how to woo diners with precision and flair. Finally, it’s special—not just another evening out, but the kind of place you eagerly save for birthdays, anniversaries, or, let’s be honest, a random Thursday when life just calls for something extraordinary. Six by Nico, welcome to Bristol. We’re thrilled to have you.

Ok been putting off this review for a little while, and now with 2 visits under my belt thought it was time to share my feels on six by Nico. On both visits to Bristol restaurant been greeted and warmly welcomed, it’s a very relaxed restaurant but with elegance and style popping out everywhere, a very busy restaurant but with a lot of servers for both the food and the drinks and you are well looked after from second you walk in to second you leave. I’ll overview the food as breaking it down would be a huge write up. But from both menus I’ve tried the food been outstanding a real dime to the fine dining scene, the entry level price is very reasonable for the food, lots of flavour profiles and some cool takes on different foods and styles. Really enjoyed the menus and rated every dish individually and give a lot of 8+ on score with only odd dish under that. I really like the play on menus and the first 2 dishes on both menus I’ve tried have really hit on many levels. The atmosphere here is really nice too, it’s very relaxed but also prefect for a important meal or celebration, it’s small intimate restaurant but think that works well, seeing the plates other people eating before you get to yours is always exciting for me. Also waiters are really on it with the knowledge can feel overpowering sometimes but the passion is certainly there. Overall for the price and also wine and cocktail pairings this place is a steal! What a gem! Price point is perfect - look you’re not going to get Michelin star fine dining out this world cookery here, but you’re not paying that kinda of money here. It’s a real introductory to fine dining with some seriously good plates at a price you would pay for many of worst restaurants. I really like what six by Nico is doing and will return again when another menu comes out that tickles my fancy. Overall after 2 visits I would score a solid 8.5/10.

I really wanted to love this experience, our friends in Edinburgh regularly go to the restaurant there and rave about it. The food and wine was good, our waitress was friendly and the puzzle was fun.

However, we felt so rushed through the whole experience I am left feeling disappointed.

We chose this experience especially for our anniversary. We splashed out on wine pairing and a number of extras.

We arrived on time for our table, we got a warm welcome and were seated a few mins later around 19.35. We were told, unprompted, that we were the last section of the night and not to rush our puzzles etc.

The issues started when the wine pairings started with the second course. After the first pairing the waitress cleared our table and commented that we were going to be one of those tables with 'double parked' drinks. We laughed this off but she wasn't kidding. The food kept coming so quickly that we were having to practically glup down our wine to keep up. The courses were dropped off hastily and the other server who was explaining our food seemed rushed and bored. This added to the feeling that we needed to be out quick.

The wine was absolutely delicious and it felt like a real waste to have to rush it like that. My partner and I were even having to keep an eye on each others glasses to make sure we were drinking it fast enough.

Bearing in mind we were seated around 19 35 and maybe had 10 or so minutes more to decide on drinks and extra snacks, we were finished at 9pm. We opted for the cheese course too, making it 7 courses total. This gave us just over 10 mins per course to eat our food, drink our wine, answer the puzzle and have the next course turn up.

We were rushed to finish a full 30 mins before the end of our 2 hour booking. We did politely feed this back to our waitress when she asked us how everything was at the end of our meal and when we explained we felt a bit rushed she explained they were all under extraordinary pressure to get people out as quickly as possible.

Our bill came to over £200 and the experience just didn't seem to match that price point (or compare well to other restaurants of a similar cost). This was a real disappointment for our anniversary and we would not be able to recommend Six by Nico based on...

We loved our meal at your new Bristol location, we had “The Chippy” and opted for the additional cocktail pairing. The food was exceptional. The flavours complimented one another immaculately and everything was presented beautifully. I was a liiiittle disappointed that you didn’t attempt an actually deep fried Mars Bar, I was excited to see a fine dining take on a classic. The setting was lovely, very well done and had a “high end” feel to it.

The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. The only thing that let the experience down somewhat was that the service was arguably a little too fast. Given that the courses are rightfully so small, it’s reasonable that you might finish your plate in a couple of minutes. Our plates were taken within seconds of being finished and replaced sometimes in under 2-3 minutes. This meant you’d barely swallowed your first course when in the next 5 minutes you had eaten your second and been presented with your third. I appreciate that you have a very high turnover rate for tables and that delays between courses may disrupt an otherwise seamless service but it left us feeling really rushed. Not to mention that given we had opted for the cocktail pairing, we were often left with 2 or 3 drinks in front of us because it’s not feasible or pleasant to ‘neck’ a whiskey sour so we could move onto the next.

On that, our cocktails often weren’t delivered with the meal itself, coming after we had finished or almost finished. This wasn’t such a problem for us as we were struggling to keep up with the pace of the meal anyway but I appreciate this isn’t the pairing’s intended purpose. Our scallops to accompany the pork didn't arrive until after we’d finished that course, but again we actually preferred because it gave us chance to catch up on our cocktails.

I’m acutely aware that this is a brand new location and I assume therefore, a brand new compliment of both front and back of house staff. I had anticipated that this might be the only thing that wasn’t perfect and it didn’t majorly detract from the overall experience. As mentioned, your staff were all so friendly and professional and I’m sure this fine tuning will come with future sittings. I will certainly be back and I would recommend to our...
