Brambles Tearooms — Restaurant in Burnley

BRRAKFAST REVIEW

Wednesday May 4th Brambles Tearooms, Burnley.

This came reccomended by Johnny at work. Its not open on a Sunday so I made an exception and had a mid-week cooked breakfast.

It's a lovely little Cafe and as I was the first in I pretty much had the place to myself. I chose a seat and had a look what the breakfast offer was. I opted for the "Full English" I could have gone for a larger version and doubled up on a few items but the regular size was already really good value and included toast and a pot of tea. When I ordered and said I didn't want an egg I was asked if Id like something to replace it. It's surprising how many places don't bother offering and it's these little things that separate the good places from the average ones. The Lady who served me, was also the Lady that cooked my breakfast and everything was cooked perfectly. The tomato was from a tin which I know splits opinion but personally I don't mind Tinned or fresh grilled. The Black Pudding was well cooked but maybe a bit on the thin side, the bacon was a nice thickness and had good flavour. There was only one sausage on the plate but sometimes that's enough and if you were really hungry you could always go for the bigger option. The sausages are supplied by Farnworth's in Whalley so you know they're going to be great quality and packed with flavour - I wasn't disappointed. I would have preferred a bigger teapot so I could have squeezed another brew out of it but other than that it was a great breakfast.

It was a letdown aimed at the lower end. The sausages (2) on the teacake were small and of poor quality, and the teacake was dry. No quiet music was playing in the background, and it really could have done with it. It was not a cheerful welcome place, although it appeared to have some regular customers. My first visit today and the 2 old girls who run place were very welcoming and a good laugh, we had there breakfast with a jug of t at £5:35.
