I arrived for a solo brunch at Alfred's after seeing their new menu online. I was 20 minutes late due to traffic, but I had rang to let them know I was running late, and thankfully, I was still seated. I was greeted with a smile, and after explaining my circumstances, I was seated and handed a menu. I didn't catch the servers name, but he was very helpful and took my drinks order - a cheeky prosecco and a glass of tap water. My waitress for the remainder of my visit was Martha, and I, thinking I was too late for brunch as the traffic had delayed me, double-checked, and with 2 minutes to spare rushed to get my order. The food was delicious, I ordered the steak and eggs, I like my steak rare and my eggs runny, and although the eggs were a tad overdone and my plate was missing the sticky jam, I enjoyed every mouthful. For dessert, I ordered the biscoff cheesecake, which was a hugely generous slice. It did state it came with a salted caramel sauce, which I wasn't given, but tbh, it wasn't needed. To accompany it, I had a latte, which hit the spot perfectly. Service was exceptional. Martha was extremely helpful and attentive throughout, and the food was served promptly.
It did state on the dessert menu that if you bought a coffee with it, the coffee would be discounted, Maybe the latte wasnt included in this but I noticed on my bill that it was full price... nothing worth quibbling about.
Oh, and for my fellow IBD'ers, whilst I was seated, I noticed a woman came in with her young child asking to use the bathroom, to which they were swiftly pointed in the direction of. No "You need to buy something to use the bathroom." Something to bear in mind if you're ever in Bury and need to find facilities pronto.
Highly...
   Read moreHi All,
So we saw the Google reviews especially the one from 5 months ago (with photos added) and decided to give Alfreds a go. We often shop in Bury and eat locally. This was our first trip to Alfreds. We booked in advance for 6.15. Arrived around 10 mins early and our table was ready. We ordered and the garlic bread to share came out pretty promptly... Unfortunately that's where the problems began. At 7pm we hadn't received our mains. We asked about this as people who had been seated after us where now being served before us. We were told it wouldn't be long. Another 10 minutes pass and we were approached with an apology that 4 tables (inc a party of 8 that came in after us needed serving first) and our food would follow. A drink was offered. The mains came around 7.40. So almost 1 hour 25 mins from arrival. Also we were aware the tables are booked out at 1 hour 30 min slots as per advertised.
Curry arrived with the supposed large naan bread. As per the photos from 5 months ago. My curry had half the amount of rice and my naan bread was a half of a full naan bread.
Husband ordered the 14 inch flatbread, again as per the photos online. He received a strip of a 14 inch flatbread. By this point we were starving. We had plans to eat dessert but by this point we were out. Saddened to leave a review like this as we booked it based on other online reviews. But the truth is we were served after diners that came later. Our starter to main wait time was over an hour, and the mains were definitely not as advertised or as previously seen. We left at 8pm. Almost 2 hours after arrival. ÂŁ52 paid and that's not a value for money experience for our...
Read moreThe server who sat us seemed to he friendly and upbeat. A young waitress took our drink order. The coffee was lovely. We then placed our food order for four. One starter of chicken bites, a salt and pepper bowl and two chicken burgers but one with a vegetarian burger. We carried on talking and soon realised that tables who came in after us were being served their food. We checked the time and saw we had been waiting for 45 minutes. One of our table asked the male waiter where our food was and he said it was being plated now and the reason that it took so long is because the vegetarian burger took longer too cook. I replied that I had been vegetarian for over 20 years and it definitely doesn't take 45 minutes to make a veggie burger. He then replied that everyone else had order quick fried foods (which they hadn't as we watched pizzas, garlic bread and curries come out) and then he walked away. It took another 10 minutes before our food came out. The chips had been literally thrown onto the plate and were cold. My veg burger definitely wasn't moving mountains like it said on the menu. My friends salt and pepper bowl chips were soggy and cold. The other burger looked like it had been cremated. We ate, left, never to...
