I was accused of being rude... but I don't find nail clippings in a salad to be all that appetising. We paid and left - we just wanted to leave and not touch another thing in there.
Accidents happen and like with masks, I suppose cleanliness and food hygiene guidelines are for the person preparing food to decide.
The reason for this 1 star review was the utter look of bewilderment and annoyance on the face of the manager who questioned the validity of this, almost implying I'd planted my own nail clipping in the salad. The waitress was truly mortified and offered me a replacement (which I politely declined) and when she got the manager, a large intimidating lady,& there was a look a pure contempt over her face.
"Well it couldn't have been there when it left the kitchen as our staff thoroughly check the food before it leaves" What? Just to be clear, we paid in full. We are not in the business and trying to get free food at the expense of a business' reputation. What an awful insinuation. We even left a tip for our waitress who we...
Read moreDisappointing.. £57 yesterday for 2 paninis, lemon meringue pie, fishcake and 6 drinks. I think the drinks made up around £23 of the bill and not being rude, we can afford to eat out, but was expecting a lot better with the milkshakes. We ordered two and couldn’t believe it when they were served to us. The milk wasn’t even chilled, it was as though it had just been poured into the glass after being left out of the fridge for a while and they tasted as though they were made with Nesquik or Crusha, just with a strawberry planted on the top of the glass! £3.95 for a milkshake that looks and tastes as though it has been made from one of the aforementioned is simply extortionate! We were expecting something at least resembling a Costa/Patisserie Valerie style one; at least their prices can be justified to a certain degree, because you feel as though you are getting something for your money. You really do either need to improve your milkshakes to warrant the price or remove them...
Read moreAfter reading a review of Leckenbys I booked Afternoon Tea for me and my friend. I needed to change an item which I was not keen on and it wasn't an issue. The sandwiches and cakes were absolutely delicious and it was one of the best Afternoon Teas we have had. I opted for the one with Presecco but my friend had to order hers because for some strange reason the Vegetarian tea didn't come with it. Again it wasn't an issue. We were also given a choice of tea and coffee but I don't drink either so was able to have a cold drink at no extra charge. Whilst we were there we noticed the food that other people were having and it all looked very nice. I have passed Leckenbeys many times and have never been in until last Tuesday but would highly recommend going for Afternoon Tea or just a bite to eat. The staff were very friendly, helpful...
