I love Espresso Lane! If you want coffee in Cambridge, you MUST go here. It’s the best coffee shop far and away. Some background: I was a graduate student at Cambridge from 2016/2017, and this coffee shop was always a sanctuary in between classes or whenever I was feeling down from the cold rainy weather. Everything about this place is special, starting with the owner. He gets to know you, makes you smile, and really offers a true, intimate customer service that is missing at most coffee shops these days. His banter is also hilarious and he really makes you feel completely at home and comfortable. Something special about him! Then, the coffee — some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. And super affordable… fantastic value. The ambience is also so nice as the coffee shop is off the bustling main streets and makes for a quiet sipping inside or outside. Yet still centrally located! I’m writing this review after being back in Cambridge 7 years later… and this place was my first stop! Perhaps that’s the takeaway and says all you need to know — can’t recommend Espresso Lane enough. -Alex Russell

At the heart of historic Cambridge but the on a tranquil small lane from the bustling throngs with a beautiful view of the church (and magnolia). Homemade food look amazing (Moroccan lamb stew and mocha brownie?!). Will come back to try them next time! And the items will rotate and change. Macchiato is pretty good. Topped with lovingly steamed foam. Despite the mixed reviews, the espresso today is pretty balanced. Strong, with a fresh acidity and not bitter at all.

Best Vanilla Latte I have ever had!! All the great reviews of this place are true. I was in Cambridge for the morning and wasn’t too blown away, and made my way over to Espresso Lane on my way out. The man working was the kindest person and he gave me great recommendations of things to finish my day off with since we talked about how some of my activities were not so fun (punting tours… rip off). Anyway, I headed off and forgot to try my coffee (hot extra vanilla latte with oat milk) until I was down the street, so I wasn't able to tell him in person, but I could have ordered hundreds of those lattes! Absolutely delicious. My interaction with that man and the latte turned my day around and made my trip to Cambridge worth it. If I am ever back in town, I will definitely come here first and get some more recommendations from...

I studied abroad last year in Cambridge, and visiting a foreign country is always hard because of a lack of community. Visiting Espresso Lane and talking to Engen (hopefully name spelled correctly) was one of the best parts of my week and I felt like I was part of the Cambridge Espresso Lane community. Anytime I needed a quick coffee boost (with oatmilk) or some quality warm handmade bread, I would stop by. The food and drinks always tasted great and made with care. Engen was very sweet and kind to all his customers, and overall was one of my highlights during...
