Chelsea Bun, Flat White = Work of Art! A Must Stop. This place is raved about it seems by everyone, yes including locals. It's a perfect little coffee shop/cafe for breakfast in the morning. The Trumpington St. location is the original cafe and the one that I made as my "go to" for the start of my mornings. Attached is the Fitzbillies Bakery Shop of which I had no need for but the displays looked amazing and if I were throwing a celebration I would definitely be contacting them for the pastries. On a recommendation it was insisted that I try the famous Chelsea Bun. It was delightful, soft and gooey, and best of all memorable. It is really just a well done cinnamon pastry but oh is it well done. I recommend it if you like sweets, its sweet but not overbearing at least that is my opinion. The Flat White was delicious as well, they take pride in no just the taste of the items but the presentation. My entire breakfast looked like something out of a magazine. The value I thought was more then reasonable, large chain locations charge a bit more for crappy products and cheap over roasted coffee, so I was more then delighted to spend my money at a local location. Out of all the sights in Cambridge the blue cup mug that my flat white was in and the accompanying plate that held my Chelsea bun is one of my favorite memories. Even if you don't like coffee and pastries I'd recommend just stopping by its a cute place with a ton of charm and diverse menu, they have WiFi but its a small location with limited seating so I don't recommend sitting in the location for hours.

I was here last week for my two days trip in Cambridge from London. We went here as this was closest to our accommodation. We entered from the bakery side around morning 9.30 and the barista looked soo sleepy. We ordered coffee and realised the other way is the deli so we asked if we can get the coffee on the table. We then go in the cafe. A very nice host got us the table. We ordered falafel with salad and shakshuka. The hard bread with falafel was stale, the hummus was nice. Shakshuka had poched eggs?! I was too surprised cos what I've learnt is eggs cook with the tomato sauce. We had reminded the coffee when we ordered food. We later even asked another waiter for coffee while we waited for food. Food arrived and coffee arrived 15 mins after that. We also tried Chelsea buns in the other chain near the bridge but they were dry and just okay. The place is well lit. Good vibe but not very good food.

I almost never give bad reviews, but today I just couldn't stand this place and had to write one. First, three cups of coffee were served, no sugar on the table, I asked the waiter to bring it, they just threw it away. Then one egg was rotten, but it was ok. Then the filter coffee was also bad, I told the waiter, he said it was impossible. Three of us tried to drink that coffee, it was really stinky. The other two Americanos were fine, and the waiter asked if it was filter coffee at the end, and then he left. Finally I paid the bill, I told another employee your coffee is smelly, he also said it's impossible, it's all fresh, I said you try it yourself! The attitude is terrible, they are always right, customers always talk nonsense. That's a tourist area, everyone goes there with a happy mood, but once you enter this store, your mood will be spoiled .

I recently visited Fitzbilly's for a full English breakfast, and while the food was ok, it fell far short of justifying the price. At £28.50 for a passable meal and a coffee I felt like a naive tourist getting ripped off when the final bill was presented. The server asked if I would like beans with my "full English breakfast" without mentioning that this would add £3.50 to the £19 base price, which felt dishonest. I have no issues paying high prices for high quality food and great service but the breakfast was average, the presentation was lackluster, and the service was brusque. It's a real shame because at a lower price point this would have been a perfectly acceptable visit. The high cost and relatively poor quality make it extremely difficult to justify a high rating, especially when there are so many other great options nearby.

Without a doubt the worst afternoon tea I’ve ever had! The sandwiches were sloppily cut and the fillings not evenly spread; the ‘scones’ were nice enough in their own right but unlike any scones I’ve ever had (the texture was more fluffy than dense and crumbly), the macarons were flavourless, and the brownies more like chocolate cake. The tea was very weak too. We had to ask one of the servers if we could order after being ignored for 10 minutes, and when she brought the tea, she started to tell us which pot was which, couldn’t remember, and so just left. We were using a gift voucher, but I definitely wouldn't go there again. I recommend you pay a little extra and go to The Ivy for a real afternoon tea and polite, attentive service.
