AD | Hello Dundee! Over the Easter break, we flew to Dundee via @flyloganair. Departing from London City Airport which is situated in Zone 3/4 East London, our journey to the airport was stress free and our flight to Dundee could not have been easier! Dundee is not usually a destination of choice for many of us but we discovered there was something for everyone at Dundee. We spent a day in Dundee and the must see locations are: - @vadundee: built in 2018 and the only V&A situated outside of London, this museum is Scotland’s first design museum showcasing both the traditional and modern Scottish designs - The McManus Art Gallery and Museum: a Gothic - Revival style building, this museum houses a collection of fine and decorative art showcasing Scottish heritage @mcmanusdundee - Hire a city bike and ride down to Broughty Ferry for a sandy beach and Broughty Castle - Try Dundee Tea offered by @hotelindigo_dundee which offers Scottish favourites including Cullen Skink, Scottish corned beef and Scones with Dundee marmalade Would you add Dundee to your list of destinations? ————————— #visitdundee #dundee #visitdanda #beautifulbritain #visitscotland #britainsbest #scotlandexplore #scotlandreels #dametraveler #iamtb #travelblogger #travelinladies #roamingwomen #journeysofgirls #girlstravellingsolo #topukphot #passionpassport #passportcollective #bestvacations #prettylittletrips #femmetravel #girlsthatwander #ladiesgoneglobal #darlingescapes #travelpicsdaily #worldofwanderlust 📸: @denneseychicken

Fantastic riverside pub with exceptional beer selection! ⚓️ (For a German Beerlover) 🫢 🍺 🇩🇪 The Anchor in Cambridge is an absolute gem for beer enthusiasts! Located right on the beautiful River Cam with stunning views of the Mathematical Bridge and Queens' College, this historic pub offers one of the best drinking experiences in the city. What really impressed me was their outstanding selection of ales and craft beers. They serve Greene King IPA as their regular, but the real excitement comes from their two rotating guest ales that change frequently. I tried some fantastic local brews including Fellows, Black Bar, and Elgoods beers, plus they stock excellent independent craft beers. The bar staff are incredibly knowledgeable and happy to recommend something based on your taste preferences. The pub has a wonderful atmosphere spread across four levels, from the cozy ground floor lounge with its comfortable chairs and polished floorboards down to the riverside bar where you can watch the punts drift by. The food perfectly complements the drinks - classic pub fare with a countryside twist featuring dishes like wood pigeon, sea bass, and perfectly cooked steaks. Everything is made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. What makes this place extra special is its connection to music history - this is where Syd Barrett used to hang out before forming Pink Floyd! The walls tell the story beautifully. Service is friendly and efficient, and the prices are very reasonable for such a prime location. Whether you're a local or visiting Cambridge, The Anchor is a must-visit for any serious beer lover. The combination of excellent ales, stunning riverside setting, and rich history makes it truly unforgettable! ❤️ See you soon dear Michi Bichi 🎩👌🏻

Staff disinterested , saw us waiting to be seated but rather than say be with you in a min just chose to ignore until eventually they were ready. There was a window table over looking the river that we asked to be moved to but we were refused it was not reserved with no reserve sign and only had someone seated when we were leaving. Service was not great. Another party came into the restaurant and were seated about 20 minutes after us, and their food and drinks order was taken before us, we had sat there a good 25 minutes prior to them, eventually we ordered drinks from the bar. Once food was ordered it was then 50 minute wait for starters and another 40 minutes after that for mains after. One presented with the bill they had charged 12.5% service charge (£15.50) if service had been good then no problem but service was appalling especially the attitude of one of the female servers ( she should re-evaluate if the hospitality industry is really something she is best suited to) Give me the choice of if i wish to give a tip don't just put it on The toilets were disgusting with an over whelming smell of urine they were not clean, and yes i appreciate that the general public pop in to use but even so, really not good. The only good thing this place has going for it is the location overlooking the river and watching the punters go by.

Rude staff. Disappointing food.

We have lived in Cam for 9 years but had never been to the Anchor before. As we had family visiting we thought we would try Anchor (for the location and it always seemed busy).

We booked a table for 4. The person on the phone was charming and was very accommodating to our request for a river side table.

Unfortunately, the food and service were disappointing to say the least:

They didn't have fish and chips by 1pm.. on a Saturday.

Burger patty was lukewarm, the bun was cold.

The £13 herb roasted chicken was a slender chicken leg more akin to boiled chicken with couple of small balls of stuffing and one(maybe two) leaves of lettuce as salad(not exaggerating).

The seabass was equally disappointing, a thin fillet with slimy skin and few slices of chorizo and fried potato as side.

Steak was fairly decent, nothing to write home about.

The fries and chips were excellent though. Hot and crispy. The best kind. I am assuming all the 5 star reviews are from people who come here for drinks and chips.

I would have been fine with all this and wouldn't have written this review if it weren't for the rude staff (except one lady at the bar). I don't know if they were having a bad day. We had so much trouble trying to catch someone's eye to get us some water or the bill. We were waving around towards the end. We were shooed away twice by the man at the bar who was serving as well.

At a point it felt like we were purposely ignored. I am more disheartened than angry that what should have been a lovely experience turned out to be an...

A Saturday night dinner in Cambridge, England for our first visit was tough without a prior reservation days previously. We finally lucked into this delightful Pub just a short walk from our Hotel.

It was already crowded and very noisy as we arrived. There was only one hostess/server present at that time and she was up to her eyeballs with patrons. We patiently waited as we did manage to secure a rare immediate reservation for 6PM. Finally free, she could not find our reservation, but went to double check. Elliana, a young woman from Greece, was poised and professional with kindness in her spirit, a smile and laughter in her heart. She got us seated. Again, we had to wait about 15 minutes for her to return for our order. Her charm melted away any frustration we may have had about the wait. She took her time with us and we were able to engage and learn more about her.

Our Tour Director had recommend this Pub to us for excellent food. He was spot on. We are not adverse to Pub food and here it was exceptionally good. One of the best double cheese burgers with chips (fries) and a dipping source. I had a draft beer, and again, Elliana come through with an excellent choice for me. Wife drank Coke.

The place was full of young people having a good time so the noise was a bit much at times, but my new hearing aids took care of it nicely.

After about a half hour, another server showed up and things smoothed out considerably for all.

For good food, great service, and a fun Pub, we highly recommend this one down on the Cam River. Say hello to...
