Meghna — Restaurant in Cambridge

I'm a regular customer of another local Indian takeaway that closes on Tuesday nights. For the first time in ages we fancied curry on a Tuesday so we thought we'd give Meghna a go. It wasn't a total fail but I don't think we'll repeat the experiment. My vegetarian wife's paneer masala was transmogrified into a prawn masala when the order was taken, presumably due to bad note taking. Luckily I spotted this on the bill, which to be fair to Meghna was quite clearly printed, allowing me to catch the mistake. They were fairly prompt in swapping it out and the take away was very nicely presented in a fancy branded paper bag. When I got the food home, my wife rejected the paneer masala based pretty much on colour alone, saying it looked very wrong and that there was really nothing to it, just lumps of paneer in a weird deep red sauce. A bit of googling images of this dish did suggest that some improvisation had occurred in its hurried preparation. Pilau rice: no objections, but not very well presented. The naan bread was actually better than our regular and was good. And finally, the chicken dhansak was not a patch on our usual place: there was not much flavour subtlety to it and it was very hot. Before I ordered I checked the reviews and saw some issues with orders. But I said as a google reviewer lets give them a chance. "I ordered butter chicken at 9pm from this restaurant on uber eats, it said it will be delivered 9:30-9:50. By 10:30 I was requesting an update on the delivery time and no response from the restaurant. I called multiple times between 10:30 and 11:30pm and no one picked up the phone. I was charged £21 and the order was never delivered, ands there was no update from the restaurant and no one responds to calls. I told uber eats and got a refund through them. Still no response from the restaurant." I will update the post with the restaurant response.

Suggestion: Update your information with the delivery companies that you stop accepting orders an hour before you close, so you have enough time to prepare. Just Eat take a 14% Commission on your order from restaurants .Most decent quality restaurants will now have 2 separate menu prices for customers who still go and collect their order, but this restaurant proudly told me over the phone that If I collected my own order and did not use Just Eat or any other delivery service such as Uber I would still be charged the 14% commission that they would in turn pay the delivery companies. I live next door to this restaurant but do not understand why I should have to pay them an extra 14% just because they chose to take on a delivery company that I have no need to use and when questioned about it they threatened to call the police for wasting their time. They are a joke and only out to rip you off if you want to order by phone and collect your food in the old fashioned way by adding an extra 14% to your costs. Ask your restaurant if they will give you a discount if you order and collect yourselves....and if they will not then vote with your money and buy somewhere else...Now going an extra mile to get my curry even though these sharks are only 100 meters away...I will never use them on...
