If i could give this place zero stars i would. Where do I start. At the begining is as a good place as any. So I arrive at the Restaurant and Parking is pretty much none existent. Found a place to park. Walked to the door to find a sign stating they dont accept Credit or Debit cards, Cash Only. Not a problem really i had cash on me. Walk in and the place is empty. No customers no staff. I stand at the counter waiting for a member of staff. Whilst waiting i decide to look at the menu. Whilst deciding what to have I decide to cough to try and gain some attention.... could hear staff somewhere?? No reaction from the staff. It was about this time I actually noted the prices of the food, Chicken Fried Rice was £9.00 and Sweet and Sour was £15.00, I can guarantee that Ken Hom or Nancy Lam are not in the kitchen cooking(if you dont know who these people are google them). But remember they dont take cards. It was at this time I decided to say, quite loudly i may add, 'Excuse Me'. Another few minutes passed and by this time I had been stood for 10 minutes. It was at this point I cut my losses and walked out.
Its no wonder the place was desolate and void of custom. Will not be...
Read moreHaving read the recent reviews we almost cancelled but on Boxing Day there was little else open. We are very pleased we didn't. We had an excellent meal and the staff, particularly the lovely lady front of house who gave us all hugs on exit, couldn't have been friendlier. So how is there such a dichotomy between love it or hate it? We were a party of 10 on our own with no time constraint. The main plates are very large (and thus may appear expensive) and arrive piping hot individually, so serving a large meal takes time. I imagine that when the restaurant is full, this can cause extra delay and thus disquiet and possible cause to speak with the owner/chef, who spent all his time in the kitchen when we were there, in a stressful situation. My only criticism is the cash only payment which I agree is ridiculous these days; I had to carry £400 on me for our meal for 10, which I don't like doing. The lack of parking is incidentally true but I have no sympathy with anyone who cannot walk from parking 5 minutes away in the multi-storey next to the Junction. In summary then, be prepared for a long leisurely meal and you will...
Read moreFound this restaurant using Google's Places on an Android phone and was attracted by the good ratings. Unfortunately, although it's tucked away in a back street and looks like a gem of a find, the meals are incredibly expensive (about £15 each before starters, side orders or drinks - which is a lot for a Chinese restaurant) the venue also doesn't take credit cards. We calculated we needed at least £80 for a meal for two and only had £30 in cash on us plus cards; had the venue accepted cards we might have given it a try to see if it was worth the price, but sadly it didn't. Disappointing, as seemed too expensive and unable to take appropriate payment to accommodate...
