There couldn't be a worse lunch than this! I came to the restaurant around 4:00PM for a late lunch, because the next door Chinese restaurant I was supposed to dine in was closed, I came to the one and asked if they were open at that moment, they accepted me, but the waitress Lydia was disrespectful and did not want to serve at all, her attitude was bad and unhelpful all the time.
Another disappointment is from the badly cooked food, I ordered one fried rice noodle dish (No. 101), it tasted very dry and hard to chew, it felt like they cooked the pasta directly without boiling it. I complained that it was not prepared at all, the chef asked if I was from Hong Kong, because their rice noodles are different from HK's. COME ON, I've had Thai food hundreds of times. He fried it again, just making it even worse, he said he recooked the dish, but it was again very quickly served, I did not know what he did on earth, the noodle was still stiff and dry, I can't cut it with silverware, I ended up with boxing it for further processing it at home.
The MOST ANNOYING and DISHONEST part of this meal is that, I ordered the rice noodle whose price is 11.95 with extra Tofu which charged 1 more pound, they charged me 15.95 pounds on the bill, I knew they must have 'helped' me add more adds-on to my bill. It is not a matter of 3 pounds, it is a matter of INTEGRITY. I tried to speak to their manager, the chef said their manager is in Thailand and left me a contact info on their menu.It was the worst dining experience I've ever had...
Read moreI wanted to share my disappointment following a recent meal at The House. For a group of three, we ordered the vegetarian set menu for two and an additional prawn pad Thai for the third person. Unfortunately, both the prawn pad Thai and vegetarian pad Thai were overwhelmed with tamarind sauce, making them inedible.
We raised our concerns with the waitress, who involved the chef. While the chef listened to our feedback and took the dishes back to the kitchen, there was no offer of alternative dishes. When it came time to settle the bill, three members of staff confronted us, insisting we pay for both pad Thais despite our complaints. They refused to address our concerns, and no manager was present to escalate the issue. At one point, a staff member raised their voice and was notably rude.
At a minimum, an apology or an offer to replace the dishes would have been appreciated, but instead, we were left with no resolution and had to pay in full. The rest of the meal was mediocre, and the service was unacceptably slow. We even requested water and never received it throughout the meal.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I would not recommend dining...
Read moreTake care with this place. They charged me 17 gbp for a bottle of wine that I didn't order, I only had one glass, not a bottle . When I told them, they just refunded the difference between the bottle and the glass. I think when someone makes a mistake like this, at least it would be polite not to charge for the glass of wine, as a compensation. The fact that they took off the cost of the glass of wine from the refund looks very cheap to me, it's not about the money but about showing some respect for the customer. Also makes me wonder why the waitress asked if I wanted to keep the paper with the bill, after I paid. Why wouldn't I? I'm glad I did request to keep it, otherwise I wouldn't have realised I had been overcharged! I wonder why she wanted to take the bill with her.....
Also drinks are very expensive here. 4 gbp for a small beer, it's abusive. Also for the green curry, it doesn't include the rice, which is paid apart. And it's a very tiny bowl, so that you'll need to pay extra if you want to finish your curry with enough rice.
I dislike restaurants where they try to squeeze extra money our of their customers by being cheap with...
