I figured out this amazing little gem outside of the rocky walls of Canterbury town with the help of my colleagues , Nearly all of my colleagues had recommended me this place , although I had already heard very good words about this place so I decided last week to pay a visit. I didn't regret any second of being in there , I don't know what to first recommend the pastries which also one of their staff member recommended to me to try it with their greek salad, all I must say about the salad is that it was very fresh (they prepared it that exact moment) and so flavourful which I had it with spinach & feta pie!! But I couldn't resist to not try their gorgeous desserts. I had their bubble waffle , and the gelato they had was one of the best I had ever tried in Canterbury , which I accompanied it with a cup of coffee, the coffee was very flavourful and didn't disappoint me as I had the exact same coffee brand in my holidays in Italy. Also I took a selection of biscuits from they're big and full of tasty , colourful biscuit cupboard. Lastly I want to say that the staff and the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming it felt like I was back at home with my yiayia 🥹 another thing that surprised me was how clean the whole shop and the toilets was😲😲 I FOR SURE WILL RETURN BACK!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AND ALSO IF YOU WANT TO HAVE REAL...

This is easily my favourite café in Canterbury. The ambience is fantastic. I’ve taken many friends here, and they always comment on how wonderful and inviting the atmosphere is (you are literally greeted by a big KALIMERA on the wall). At Amalis there is a wide selection of food available, from savoury to sweet. Available to you is a range of Greek pastries and an even larger variety of cakes and baklavas. All deliciously prepared and for a very reasonably affordable price. What’s great about Amalis as well is that it closes at 19:00. A lot of cafés in the UK close around 17:00, so it’s nice being able to sit around for a bit longer if you’re with great company having a good time. I’m personally an avid supporter of local businesses. There’s still many cafés I need to try in Canterbury, but I always find myself coming back to the reliable Amalis. It’s the hidden gem of Canterbury, and if it’s coffee or pastries you’re after, I cannot recommend a place better than this. To the owners and...

Twas but a few years ago when I, accompanied by a few of my closest family members, took a trip to the utopian state of Greece. We enjoyed a remarkable stay, engaging in many a consummation of Greek foods. As soon as we returned, we felt a pang in our stomachs, nay, a yearning to return to the culinary delights of the country. The Amalis Caffé is the closest we have since come. Situated just outside the centre of Canterbury, the Caffé is a five minute walk from the nearest parking, and contains many an exciting option for breakfast, as well as many treats to indulge your guilty pleasures. (yummy) I have been many times, and there is a generally muted atmosphere, which is just what I was searching for, as it allows me to enjoy their culinary delights in peace. Food service is very fast, and water is provided to wash down all your continental gastronomic adventures. Would recommend to anyone searching for a slice of the Mediterranean in the...

UPDATE: 20 JUNE 2025 Just popped into Amalis for a spot of lunch and noticed the ice cream display by the door. Obviously, I had to try one and it was AMAZING! All of the ice creams are homemade in house and are beautifully presented. I tried the strawberry ice cream, made with strawberries (!) and it was one of the best ice creams I've ever had. I would highly recommend stopping off here on a hot day for a tasty cooling treat 😀. Amalis is a lovely café, situated on Upper Bridge Street, opposite Burgate in Canterbury. Stopped for lunch and had an amazing filo chicken pie and coffee. Tasted great and a lovely coffee too. I would highly recommend the short trip out of the city centre to this absolute gem. Check out the cakes 🤩

An amazing, genuinely friendly, relaxed and welcoming place, with the beauty and thoughtful immediacy of the Greek culture, ran by a wonderful, hard working family. Lovely interior design. Clean and tidy environment, including modern and clean facilities. Great coffee, always served with a glass of water on the side. Impressively wide and delicious selection of cakes, pastries etc. - well priced (large portions) too. Good internet connection. Feeling welcomed whenever popping in. Anyone can feel at home regardless of age, background, status etc. It's also family friendly. Canterbury (and Western society) is in great need of such authentic, community building and human relationships nurturing places like the Amalis Caffé.
