Ehh, I had really high hopes because of the queue, I love salads and plant based food and the menu today sounded really good - harissa cauliflower tabbouleh, sweet and sour puy lentil, slaw, ferments, spicy kimchi etc. however it was very “raw” and not much flavour at all. The slaw and leaves were completely plain, kimchi maybe a tiny kick but not at all what I would call spicy, just overall good, fresh, but not brilliant. I finished it and wasn’t unhappy but I have been to other places that make you want to be vegan or reconsider what’s possible being plant based but this didn’t do that for me. It was very clear I was eating a lot of vegetables with no real show stopper. I would go back and try the fritters or something maybe but not the Buddha bowl again. The people were nice, I was served fairly quickly (after I queued for quite awhile) and the warm food options looked nice but I am not convinced there’s anything very seasoned/flavourful based on what I tried.

I had lunch there on Sunday 2023-08-20 with some friends. Got the daal with salads which was colourful and tasty, a bit of a shame that my first choices of food and drink (mushroom Wellington and kombucha) both ran out by the time we ordered (~13:45). The cafe was quieter than I expected for a Sunday lunch sitting throughout the time we were there, which was good for us to sit for quite a while to catch up, but I hope they get more customers because I did enjoy their good and do like their healthy food concept with various vibrant salads and fermented / pickled sides.

It is such a shame; this used to be one of my favourite cafes in Canterbury. Whilst the food is still tasty, the portion sizes for the price are stupidly small. I paid £11.60 this weekend for a buddha bowl to take away and was given about half of a standard portion that didn’t even cover the bottom of the container, and went less than half the way up the sides. The quantity was probably worth about £5. The staff were absolutely run off their feet and the service was incredibly slow. Really disappointing. Unfortunately, I cannot continue to recommend this spot.

The Veg Box is one of the first places we ate at as a family of three since our son was born, and though I was a little apprehensive given his minute attention span, we couldn't have enjoyed out lunch there more. The staff were so kind and accommodating, the food was absolutely delicious (the pancakes were insanely good, and the salad buffet was phenomenal - a big word to use about salad, but even my partner who is definitely not a natural herbivore really loved them!) and the general vibe of the place is super relaxed, so even when our son was testing out his lungs nobody made us feel awkward. Fantastic selection of food and drink, great portion sizes and really quick service, we really couldn't have asked for more - maybe more pancakes because I could have eaten them forever - but really we couldn't recommend enough. And even though they were clearly very busy, the staff were all doing an amazing job of still smiling and being super friendly, which I think is never easy when under pressure, so big props (and many...

Wanted to love this place but unfortunately my mum got horredously ill from the food, and took quite some time to feel 100% again. This was well over a year ago and she never eats salad now because of it, when it used to be one of her favourite foods. We know it was there as she ate all the same food as my dad the two days prior and he was fine, and she is pretty meticulous about hygiene as it is part of her job. They denied all possibility it could come from their establishment because they didn't receive any other complaints; for the most part people don't complain when they get ill from food and we are 100% it didn't come from anywhere else. They also said 'food poisoining symptoms normally only appear after one to two days' which is simply not true, she was violently sick starting around 12 hours after she ate the food - this is not an uncommon timeframe and demonstrates a lack of knowledge. Whether you like it or not nowhere is immune...
