Having previous experience with other branches of this restaurant chain across London and kent, our visit to the canterbury branch was unfortunately disappointing.
In other branches, normally the staff and management have 'interaction' with the dining customers (ie asking customers if all is ok/ any other needs and if they are enjoying their meal etc). - just the normal and 'expected 'buzz' that you receive from most Nandos.
But unfortunately, customer interaction, service and care was completely lacking and missing from this particular branch.
The ratio of staff to customer business peak, (this being a very quiet time of day) was completely off and looked like bad staff planning, with 3 grill staff, 1 till op and and '6' servers. A total of 10 staff (11 including the manager).
At the time of the visit (late afternoon) the branch was empty, with only 3 interior tables occupied and 1 exterior by customers and the rest of the restaurant was completely empty. (it seemed to be staff rotored more towards a 'London based branch than this one) .
All of the aforementioned staff (including the manager!) where huddled around the till and grill area laughing and joking, completely oblivious to what would be expected from Nando's senior team and customers present. To the point that there was food sitting under the hotlamps without anyone immediately serving it.
From the branch managers perspective this was not great staff organizational management leadership skills or great customer awareness.
Perhaps it is down to the younger, college/school age demographic that frequent the branch that gives reason for the evidential lack of customer awareness and expectation that you would normally always receive when visiting a more 'age diverse' (because with that comes greater...
Read moreToday served at the door with a warm welcome. Shown to our seat table 14. Seat was bit messy unfortunately, but I sorted that with a tissue. Ordered at the counter, lovely lady served me and took my order. I mentioned I need my corn with extra hot sauce marinated and grilled which I got which is good as most forget to do the sauce part even when it's on the invoice. My food came hot and fresh. Half chickebmn, peri chips and corn which all was cooked to perfection and extra hot was nice and kick to it. My mum had a butterfly, spicy rice and garlic bread. Unfortunately the chicken. Was in our opinion dry over done. General manager was so polite, courteous and top man when came to sorting it out for us. Ensured the meal was done again and it was done to perfection 👌👍 was good to see a fast rectification by the manager and team. Food was lovely, and the lady who served me at the counter game to see how we were and if we needed anything. Ice machine wasn't working prob due to over use and misuse by people. Toilet was clean and tidy which was good, especially when the restaurant was busy. Got to see Ashley waters waiting for his food too which was cool lol. Would...
Read moreSomething is always wrong when I come here. On several occasions I've had super lumpy bits in the mash, they forget my side, don't have the chilly jam in the wrap or my burger or chips are just cold. I don't know if it's because I'm eating a vegetarian option(??) or what. I appreciate it's fairly cheap, but I'm still paying for a meal which I expect to be fully cooked and everything I've ordered. It doesn't seem to matter whether they are busy or dead, and I've been coming here on and off since it opened. It never gets any better. Also it was 9pm on a Sunday and our waiter clearly just wanted to go home - I made eye contact with him several times in hope that he'd come do his check back and I could explain that my beanie burger was less than cooked and severely mushy, but he avoided coming over and left the 'checkback chicken' at our table, yet hovered ready to take away our plates the very second we'd finished. When he took the plates only then did he ask how the food was. I told him. I got offered a brownie as recompense. I didn't want a brownie. I wanted a fully...
