I want to start this by saying I’ve never left a bad review, let alone taken the time to post one. Also, it’s a long one! Firstly, the food was absolutely lovely, we were a party of 6 adults and we had starters and a main course (dessert was not an option as we later found out). I can imagine early evening or lunchtime would be quite a different experience.
We were booked for 8:30pm, this was the only time available and before arriving we were unaware you have to leave at 10. During our main course a waiter came and announced, ‘guys, it’s last orders’ this was probably around 9:15 so we were a little surprised! Another waiter came across again during our main course to let us know we can have take out boxes for our food if we need them and plastic cups for our drinks. We finished our meal around 9:40 and a team of waiters came over to take our glasses one by one as the last sips were finished. We hadn’t realised the time and at 10.12 precisely (the waiter told us the time) a young waiter came and said ‘look guys, it’s 10.12 you need to leave, you can have a plastic cup and finish your drinks outside. He was clearly ready for bed or a night out and his aggressive manner was a little confusing. I asked nicely and respectfully if he was the person I should talk to about poor customer service and he rolled his eyes and walked off, another waiter came and said ‘is there a problem’ I explained that the service was aggressive and inappropriate and if they take bookings at 8:30pm it would be beneficial to let people know you’re getting kicked out at 10 on the dot prior to booking. Our party got up to leave and on our way out the ‘manager’ came over, I explained that we’d been meet with aggressive behaviour that it was completely unwarranted and the ‘manager’ said she didn’t serve us so she couldn’t comment. At this point we were surrounded by the staff and tensions were rising, another presumed manager who claimed to be the owner came over and asked us to leave again and of course we did. A table of a similar size to ours left 5 minutes before us and when we left they were waiting outside to let us know they’d had the exact same experience as us.
Prior to leaving, the other table over heard the staff calling either our table or theirs the table of shame. I can only assume the team had something planned after the restaurant closed and they needed everyone out. The most frustrating part was explaining to the staff that the poor service we had received was unfair and really confusing. The business has employed inexperienced teenager's and very young adults to manage a restaurant so when things don’t go to plan there is no reasonable response available, and this is down to the immaturity of the team. It would be difficult to hold them responsible when they’ve been given free reign to manage a restaurant with zero customer service experience. I’ve tried to be entirely objective and having worked customer service all my working life I can see both sides on most occasions but this was insane. It ended up being funny because we literally could not comprehend what was happening. It’s a huge shame because the food was amazing but the service was well below par.
I’ve never experienced anything like it and out of the 12-15 of us on the 8:30 slot non of us will return. I genuinely hope someone of real authority or experience sees this review and identifies the problems before it has a detrimental effect on the business. We ordered the Special Pad thai which is beef and chicken, Beef Khao pad Rice meal, Tofu tamarind as a starter and Pandan custard for the dessert with Banana rolls. We went here with our little one which is very picky eater. We are just so glad that the staff here not only allowed us to bring an outside food for her as she only wants pasta but also they did let us heat it in a microwave. I keep on saying to add it in our bill but they didnt. They are very accommodating and friendly too. We are really amazed how lovely the place, the staff and the food! Read moreIt's a lovely looking restaurant, really nice and bright inside. Food was okay, but there's definitely better Thai places in Carlisle. The spring rolls weren't hot in the middle, and the Thai beef salad had a lot of bits that where just fat/gristle with no meat on them. Their pad Thai didn't have much flavour which was a shame. The rib starter was lovely and a good number of cashews in their cashew dish.
Not the servers who were there faultd as they were busy but I think they needed an extra server, no one checked on us while eating and we had run out of drinks, and they often weren't in the main dining...
