Being coming to this restaurant since before 2016 - think since then has changed owners.
Do not know why they open for Saturday afternoon lunch as soon as arrived we received the attitude of not wanting us there, then the food was to match.
Ordered a starter and 3 mains and a side rice for my daughter. Requested the rice be brought the same time as the starter.
They decided to bring first our mains - to then when I questioned why we have being brought our mains before our starter. I received a very angry reply back that it is coming and other customers sometimes want all together.
To which I replied and told the waitress that I had actually requested that she brings the side rice (as was for my daughter) at the same time as our starter. Not all together as they wanted, as wanted to rush to get us out.
The look of anger on this waitress's face and her gesture of blowing through her lips in angry, as instead of trying to please their customers she tried to ague back.
To which (to whom i guess is the male own) came over (also with a face to match hers) to which he said nothing of nothing about anything. Just looking like he didn't know what or how to handle anything.
P.s - This male owner few minutes before, had just come from a table that had just entered and told them they close in an hour and understands that they may want to leave now as not enough time! This is also blow me away, as is the first time ever i have seen this attitude from an owner to any customer, why open when you really do not want to be serving any one or actually be there and open.
Since when does any type of business turn round and say to their customers/clients that they basically do not want them their as they will close even if they not finished!
After an argument that they created in front of the 2 other tables in their restaurant. The waitress tried to say, she will take the mains away and bring the starter. To which we didn't let her as said, do not want my main to go back to be re heated, thank you.
They then brought our starter (summer noodles), made terrible and missing the rice noddles in them.
The egg fried rice they brought for my daughter was so hot you could tell was straight out the microwave, and on tasting was so dried the rice and crispy, it was either from the day before and re heated or even the day before this. The egg fried rice was no way at all made to order and fresh and my daughter ate a few spoon only.
Our Prawn Pad Thai we had ordered 2 of tasted ok, but the prawns that where inside had not being cleaned so looked quite disgusting as was very visible and gross. Not what you would except.
On the final note, we ordered 3 bottles of beer on arriving. To be only brought 3 glasses of already decanted beer. This again is also the first time i have ever seen any bar, restaurant or hospitality pre decant from the bottle away out of site and then bring this to the table with no bottles just full glass!
I shall not becoming back to this restaurant and as you can see, i have gone to the effort to write a review which i never ever do as felt it needs to be brought to other potential customers to avoid this Thai...
Read moreAbsolutely appalled by the rude and pathetic owner at Rin's Thai Kitchen. My wife walked in with our baby in a stroller while I was parking the car, only for her to be met with cold stares from the owner who was walking her out, before she had even walked in. Instead of a warm welcome or any assistance, she was told they don’t serve people with children after 7pm because "babies cry and you can't stop them" although it was only 6.25pm.
This level of discrimination is shocking and completely unacceptable. It’s not mentioned anywhere on their website or anywhere else, and their careless attitude towards families is disgraceful. A restaurant that turns away parents simply for having children shows no respect - the owner should be disgraced of himself.
If you value respect and decent service, steer well clear of this place. 'After 7pm it is "Adults time" only'. The owner might this he was polite but this was an absolute case of discrimination for a restaurant who does not openly advertise this to save themselves from legal trouble.
I have been here a number of times before and whilst I have never experienced an abruptly rude service, it hasn't been the most pleasant either as the food used to make up for it. (Last time I ate here, I would have said the food was a 4 out of 5 compared to other Thai Food I have had) but this time, the owner dismissed us at the door.
This review is not posted out of malice but as genuine feedback about the way we were treated at 6.25pm. I hope this can serve as constructive criticism to ensure future interactions with families are handled more empathetically and professionally. The restaurant was approx. 80% empty and they could have handled this better knowing they have capacity to put couples or families with younger adults in another area or service families with babies quicker.
On the plus side, thanks to the rude owner for turning us away, we discovered another Thai restaurant in Quorn which was very accommodating where the food and service was much better than what we have previously...
Read moreI visited this restaurant and tried several dishes that were under-seasoned and overpriced (Thai chicken fried rice, tom yum noodle soup, Thai fried tofu, and Thai milk tea). I was quite hungry, and out of respect for the food, I finished most of the rice in the fried rice dish, though it was bland and unremarkable. However, the chicken was simply unacceptable—so poorly cooked that I genuinely felt sorry for the bird that had died for this.
My girlfriend barely touched her tom yum noodle soup. The noodles had not absorbed any flavour, and the beef had a strong, unprocessed blood taste, making it unpleasantly chewy. The whole dish felt like separately cooked components—noodles, tom yum broth, and beef—assembled together without ever being truly integrated.
The Thai fried tofu was arguably the most tolerable dish of the four, but the batter was far too thick, making it heavy and joyless to eat.
As for the price—perhaps the chef tried their best—but sadly, fresh ingredients were wasted due to poor execution. I’ve had tom yum soup many times in London, typically priced around £6 per portion. Dishes with prawns may cost over £7, but they’re significantly more flavourful than what we had here.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. Moreover, the tone of the restaurant’s responses to customer feedback reveals a level of arrogance that’s disappointing—especially considering the service during the meal itself was actually decent.
I also browsed other customer reviews and the owner’s responses. Interestingly, the owner seems to reply to every negative review that includes a photo of an empty plate with the same line: “You said the food was bad, but you finished it all.” Perhaps the owner truly finds it baffling that diners, even when disappointed, would still respect the food enough not to waste it. But rather than acknowledging the feedback, such a response feels dismissive—and speaks volumes about the restaurant’s attitude...
