Awful pork ramen. I have ordered from Jet Sushi before and usually the food is very good. This time I was disappointed in the food I received. See attached photo for the pork ramen. It’s mostly noodles with one thin slice of pork. There’s no egg or other trimmings usually found with this dish, mostly noodles. It can hardly be classed as a pork ramen. I asked the restaurant how much meat I would have got if I had ordered another meat dish and they confirmed they would have sent more… for the chicken teriyaki they send 3 chicken thighs in a portion…
They stated that the pork in a pork ramen dish takes longer to cook and hence they can only add one slice but really, there wasn’t any extra special care taken for this pork, it’s a single slice of thin cut pork which tastes the same as if I would have cut and cooked it myself. The restaurant did acknowledge they had run out of some ingredients so sent the dish as is but without adding a note or giving any kind of replacement.
I was told that I was the only one who had complained about their food which obviously isn’t true if you look at the reviews. Even if I was the first person to complain about the pork ramen dish specifically, well, there’s a first time for everything, isn’t there? Mistakes can and do happen and when they do, they should be acknowledged. There’s no harm in just saying sorry for disappointing a customer, offering an apology and just being courteous about it.
Considering I have ordered from Jet Sushi before and know what the food is usually like, I am disappointed in the quality of the food and the staff’s silly comments when I called up to speak to them about this dish in particular. It was poor of them to get defensive immediately instead of listening to their customer and just acknowledging something has gone wrong.
Clearly now I’m not going to spend my money with them again as there are other sushi...
Read moreOur first visit to Jet Sushi was a delight and is best described as a "find". It is situated in one of the small retail units, facing the river, attached to The Meadows shopping complex. By the nature of its size seating is restricted to tables suitable for two people only, any larger group would not be able to share the same tsbke. Jet Sushi is the province of a husband and wife team who could not have been more welcoming. They were courteous and helpful without being intrusive, content to allow plenty of time for us to select from their interesting menu. The food was freshly prepared and attractively served. We both started off with Eel, I went on to enjoy a big bowl of Miso Raman which followed delicious scallops. Fran opted for Tempura Prawns which she found irresistible, so much so she asked for an additional helping which was produced with alacrity. As we left Jet Sushi a friend happened along, they were destined for their first visit to the restaurant. A day or so later I met them again and was interested to hear their opinion and experience. It was a very favourable report they were happy to provide. It is safe to say there are three of us who enjoyed their time in the eatery so much, we are all commited to returning there. From our personal point of view, our second visit will be sooner...
Read moreThis is a very clean and cozy establishment with a manager who is passionate about quality. We enjoyed the pork ramen - and it was stunning. No instant soup here - slow cooked broth, rich and flavoursome, tender pork and plenty of veg with traditional noodles. Sensational. The sushi set offered maximum variety, fresh as a daisy and excellent value. We have enjoyed the sharing platter before and this too is consistently good. Rolled sushi is generous and fresh - no old tuna here - with large pieces of succulent fish. This is a wonderful place but is small, so don't expect to fit 50 people; but don't let that put you off. The proprietors make you very comfortable and offer a personal service to make you feel welcome. Food and service is far better quality and value compared to that famous chain (beginning with W) and impressive selections are available for such a tiny kitchen. Do give them a try and you will be more than happy, and if you are local they do take-out. I am from another district but can't wait to visit them soon. ...
